The Jones is now a proud owner of a Taiwan scooter license…yeehaw ! No written test for me!
The most tedious bit is the 2 hour educational video and lecture where you see a lot of deadly crashes, but it is moderately useful . There’s still big gaps in driver education but we know that already.
And I failed the straight line first time by driving too fast (wife said you always do that…
).
He gave me a go around and I slowed down and passed with no deductions second time. All on a borrowed bike that I had no practice with.
So what are the rules now for people with a regular car license? Written and road test to get a scooter license?
I did exactly the same thing. Two decades of procrastination. I got my car driver’s license last Friday.
I hated doing that reverse S. I guess they still have that ? It’s useful for narrow mountain roads I think. Congratulations that’s probably a kind of relief.
I only had to take the written test because of my US driver’s license. I studied for two weeks. I know from the practice tests on line that it’s kind of a roll of the dice- sometimes easy, sometimes difficult. I guess I lucked out that day.
And yes, huge relief. I have been driving without a license for all this time. I didn’t drive often, but when I did, I had to be extra careful about checking my bad attitude, honking, etc., because I knew I had no right to be on the roads and an accident would be very messy without a license.
When I drove over the weekend with my new license in my wallet, I found I did so with a bit of an attitude. I need to be careful about that.
