Im surprised it lasted this long. The Colbert report was much better.
This is when I completely gave up on it during Covid. What a
. He became a mouthpiece of the very institution he used to burn with this humor.
Iām surprised people who liked him before would even watch The Late Show. He used to break down propaganda and mock the establishment but now heās part of it.
And shorter.
I find it more tolerable than Fallon. Not that I buy into the fake laugh conspiracy, Fallon is a bit too high energy for me. The other Jimmy is fine, about the same as Colbert. The host I enjoy the most right now is Seth. However, nothing comes close to Stewart, Colbert and Ferguson in the 2010s.
I considered posting that clip, but just couldnāt bear watching that Orwellian stuff of nightmares again.
Agree with this part. All the current shows are unwatchable though. Iād rather get accupuncture on my Rocky Mountain oysters than watch Seth or the two Jimmies.
I miss Craig Ferguson. Iām an insomniac, he was a fountain of belly laughs, and often helped me to conk out.
Stewart has credibility the others donāt have because heāll skewer the absurdities of both left and right. Heās remarkably silly though for being in the big leagues of comedy so I canāt stomach him for long.
Eh, heād often go a bit easy on the left. Although he seems more balanced since he came back (which in turn is pissing off some of the more partisan left).
If you are not funny in the UK, go to the US and they give you your own show.
Worked for Benny Hill.
And James Corden.
I was out of late night before he entered the game.
I was that The Late Show was losing 40 million bucks a year and Colbert was getting 15 million?
I guess cringy political messaging isnāt that important anymore. ![]()
To be fair, CBS could be spinning as well. Who knows what the truth is. Probably a mix of both.
The issue is people getting their news from comedians and newscasters becoming a joke.
At least they did not shoot him, which is what happens in the old country when someone speaks against the regime, especially as a comedian. Them authoritarian regimes do not like being made fun of. Laughter is empowering.
And yes, they had politicians shot recently in the US but no one talks about that anymore. Itās shelved. RIP Gilbert. Thereās a lot of self censorship in US media. The power of money.
So he did a dance on his show with people dancing as vaccines . Maybe he supported vaccination which was a public good. Thatās not propaganda thatās just him supporting a public health initiative.
So what.
Vaccines reduced death in vulnerable populations by 90%. Covid vaccines worked extremely well !
Maybe more viewers in the US should have taken them and then they wouldnāt have had such high death rates there. I guess I donāt know what Iām talking about since Iāve only worked in the medical industry for 25 years , itās all āpropagandaā I guess all the vast majority of the medical establishment who supported vaccination donāt know either.
And while Iām at they should do another dance for the ignorant fools who donāt give their kids measles shots which is also causing big problems in the US right now.
John Stewart set a high bar for humor and a low bar for exactly that.
Bill Maher was more in depth but he has fallen off as well.
You have to look at both sides of that equation . Losing both critical news services and sharp political comedians is a really bad symptom.
Of course. It was disrespectful to Dear Leader. That kind of show should never be allowed (thankfully wonāt be in years to come
