not into it. I am confused, and a little scared.
Yeah, except if you read the first post you’ll realise that some feature don’t work if you do that…

What? Like POLLS? I’d be happy if there wasn’t a poll option in the first place, to be quite honest.
I changed it back, now I am happy and no longer scared.
I started using it last week. I didn’t like it at first, but I’m fine with it now. The mouseover color changes for the topic lists are quite helpful.
My main problem is the one I believe Marty is referring to here
It’s not obvious when a thread has unread posts, the only difference is the bar at the top of the icon on the left is red instead of gray. or am I missing something?
I don’t mind the colors, but I hate the huuuuuge photographs at the top of each and every page. I don’t want to see pretty pictures of Taiwan, I want to read the forum. I don’t mind one picture like that, on the login page or the front page, but having that picture plus the banner ad take up my entire screen every time I switch to another page is really irritating. (And I’m using a computer, not an iPad, right now.)
I am not sure which 101 photo you are referring to. Either way, the reason is the same: because the photo is a blow up from a lower resolution. These dimensions were meant for forumosa.org
Can you send other photos to use instead? Width should be 1500 to 2000 pixels – with more people and places using extended monitors, that would be a safer length.
I like the pretty pictures of Taiwan, but the header photos do not have to all be touristy ones. At some point, I hope we can really build a pool at Fotomosa.com and then feature photos from there. For now, consider these headers temporary.
How did you change it back? I went to the user control panel, but can’t find where to change it. ![]()
Edit: Found it under Board Preferences.
under “board preferences” tab, “my board style”
re: my “problem,” there’s that blue thing too, i get it now. I agree with ironlady about the big picture on every page though.
Yeah, I had to change it back, too. I mean the prosilver is prettier, for sure, but it felt confusing and just, not like home, I guess.
The color change mouse over is okay, but if you scroll with the wheel on the mouse, it skips thread topics. I don’t know. I was dazzled at first, but it just didn’t work for me. I hope you’re not going to make us change permanently at some point.

I guess what I am saying is that there are lots of places I can see those sorts of pictures, including threads devoted to them on f.com. They interfere with my being able to access the information I am here to read. They are too large on many displays and take too prominent a spot, especially when combined with a banner ad dirrctly below.
For me, unless the site is primarily devoted to photography or tourism, images should serve the design, not BE the design.
Like housecat and others I have goneback to the old style. Found the prosilver hard to read and at times I was not even clear what was quoted text in a post and what was new content from the last poster.
I found the font too small and I switched back right away. If it’s harder to read, it’s not good.
prosilver offers 3 sizes for just that reason. Try clicking the font-size changer at the upper right corner in the main navigation menu
That’s interesting to know. The quoted text I see is not only indented and comes in a box with a different shading, but it begins with the words that it is quoted ![]()

The font is still significantly smaller even on the largest setting. I use a netbook connected to 17" monitor. 1280 x 768 pixels.
1280x800 here, 15-ish inches. Rather large text at the largest setting. Zooming in in the browser makes it huge. Putting it back to normal font and normal zoom now.
Agree about the unnecessarily big pics at the top, though I realize it may not be that easy or convenient to change right now.
Maybe a bit off topic, but how do I change the view of Forumosa on my iPhone. I used to be able to view it like I would on my laptop, but now it can only be viewed in the mobile version. I tried erasing my cookies and using a different browser than Safari, but no luck. Sorry to say, but don’t like using the mobile version of Forumosa, it’s a bit tedious to view and use.
