Chef’s Table in Taiwan

I have a friend who told me that he went to a Chef’s Table in NYC. The concept is that they have guest chefs in residence for 3-month engagements and you sit with the chef as you eat. He said there is a location in Taipei, but my searches can’t confirm where. One seems to indicate Kaohsiung, Taiwan 813, and another suggests Bencotto in Songshan. Has anyone heard of this place? Tried it?

I think you mean Chef’s Club in the new Breeze tower: https://chefsclubtaipei.com.tw

I’ve been to the NYC location a few times. I don’t remember seeing any chefs sitting down with guests, maybe your friend was describing the open kitchen layout. Dunno if it’s regional dining style or luck of the draw, but the popups I went to were a la carte and so far the TW ones seem to have been fancy schmancy tasting menus.

p.s. In a similar vein, there’s a much more casual popup place in NYC focused on ramen: http://www.ramen-lab.com (run by the Sun Noodle company)

My friend said that he sat and chatted with the chef, but I wasn’t there so I can’t couch for the accuracy of his recollection.
