🇨🇳 China | China to relax travel rules for British visitors - no visa needed

Posting this here as I think there might be a few Brits who will find this useful like I do .

It’s just been announced that we’ll no longer need a visa to travel to mainland China for visits up to 30 days. Removes a lot of ball ache. Previously you needed to travel to Hong Kong for a couple of days to get a visa, or go back to the UK to get one.

Just saw that on the news too. I was looking for info as to when this will come into effect and any rules relating to it, but I couldn’t find anything at the moment.

I thought that was already the case since around 2024 for Europe with Australia, New Zealand and others following…?

Canada also moving in this direction. If countries like Japan and Italy already have such warm ties with China, why not?

Yeah I can’t find any specific details yet on when it will happen.

Yeah it has been the case, but up until today the UK was left out of the party.

They must be getting real desperate for cash.

Transit visa was actually not much of a hassle. Just needed to go Taiwan —> China —> another country —> Taiwan.

Now it all depends whether they regard Taiwan —> China —> Taiwan as legitimately leaving China.

That’s a massive hassle, having to go to a third country just so you can visit China, and for a maximum of 10 days too.

The transit visa is an insane amount of hassle. And yes Taiwan would be considered a country as the transit visa allowed Hong kong>China>macau as an itinerary.

Seems like Canada just had this aswell and seemed to be active after a couple of days so I expect a similar time frame.

I’ve been waiting for this for a while. Pretty rough circumstances that brought it about though (green lighting the london super embassy /chinese spy HQ.)

This very good news. Going to the embassy to renew my business visa was a pain. Half a day wasted usually.
