🇨🇳 China | Layover/Transit in Shanghai

China Eastern is ok. It’s a flight. If you are flying economy then it’s just another bus.

That reminds me, if you do go through security to leave the airport I’m not sure if you need the covid “tracking app” on your phone. They can sometimes check your devises, so make sure don’t have any music by Unholy Grave.

Avoid it like the plague. Even if all goes well you’re still stuck in a tube with a…particular clientele who will make you wish you’d spent a few extra bucks on an airline based in another nation.

I will let you know all about when I am back in August.

Ive flown China Eastern quite a bit. After the first meal service on flight to London, they had run out of beer. But its ok. Chinese tourists can be noisy but better than before. Service is perfunctory. Food is ok. Worse than most Asian airlines, but kinda equal with North American ones.

You are just going to watch some movies and get some shit sleep in a chair anyway.

Oh online people say that they don’t give headphones now, which is mental. So bring some wired headphones

Indian passport holder attempts to transit in Shanghai en route to Japan—and was singled out and detained at Shanghai Pudong Airport. Why? Her crime was to be born in India’s northeast which includes territories the PRC claims it owns (fact check: it doesn’t).

A lot of “she claimed” in there…

Are you expecting an official statement from Shanghai Pudong on this matter?

I think this Indian woman’s error was to presume that China Eastern and Shanghai Pudong are regular commercial operations in the ways we typically understand them. They are not. They are state enterprises directly under the CCP and their first priority is to carry out the goals of the CCP, not to behave nicely or to act in the best interests of a commercial enterprise.

Are you expecting un-biased reporting from the Times of India in regards to China? Maybe it happened exactly as she claimed. Maybe there is more to the story than “China bad.”

We have numerous active forumosans from India. I am pretty certain they can read critically, much like you and I read critically, and draw their own conclusions.
