China's genocide of Uighurs and news suppression

They would kill them if they thought they could get away with it and it achieved a goal. Nothing they do should surprise anyone, there is no moral boundary.

UK held a Uighur genocide tribunal - they plan to publish report in December 2021.

The nine United Kingdom-based jurors of the tribunal, including lawyers and human rights experts, intend to publish a report in December on whether China is guilty of genocide.

Lol. The worst offender of genocide in the past decades is in no position to judge China.

Has anyone thought to tell you to shut up yet today? lol

That Muslim nations are not standing up to China to support Uyghurs, makes me puke. Not surprising, but still, sickening.

You just leave the Argentines out of this, okay?!

Tajikistan as well

Uyghurs living in Tajikistan has been reduced from 3,000 to 100 in the past 15 years, with most of the reduction happening in 2016-2018.

So much for pan-Turkic solidarity. Turkey is the only country that occasionally speaks up against China.

Not just nations, but Muslim communities.

Why there hasn’t been a big protest outside the Chinese embassys in America or the UK is baffling. They’re quick to protest when Israel bombs Gaza, but China actually carrying out a legitimate genocide: silence.

Maybe it’s the antisemitism aspect of it. Or that they’re Chinese Muslims rather than Arabic.

“We are gravely concerned about the human rights situation in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region,” Canada’s ambassador, Leslie Norton said.

“Credible reports indicate that over a million people have been arbitrarily detained in Xinjiang and that there is widespread surveillance disproportionately targeting Uighurs and members of other minorities and restrictions on fundamental freedoms and Uyghur culture,” the statement said.

The Canadian-led statement cited reports of torture, forced sterilization, sexual violence and forced separation of children from their parents.

But whatabout Canada?

It’s obvious why Canada has been told to do this - the other 4 veto power holding countries don’t want to do so publicly. Such nonsense.

Absolutely nothing stops Biden from appealing to congress to stop trade with China and investigate. But he doesn’t have the guts to do so (or any potus). Nothing stops the UN ambassador to bring the issue in front of the GA of the UN for a full vote. Again they’re too shit scared to do it.

They ask Canada to do it coz Canadian thoughts on this are irrelevant.

Israel is honest about it:

“ Multiple diplomatic sources said that Israel had done so at the request of the United States and Canada, but it was not presented as a demand.”

The GOP can only show its hypocrisy, not actually do anything:

JT is a hypocritical virtue signaller from way back. Easier for him to do this and score some points abroad, rather than let the press ask him about clean water for indigenous in Canada (or remember the We charity?)

Honestly, the rest of mainland Asia, especially India, don’t look stable enough to act as peace time counters to China. If the West and the Muslim world aren’t willing to speak out for the Uighurs, then there is little hope for them, unless tension really escalates to war. Even then, I wonder if the rest of Asia would act as war time counters to China.

Agree. India has always been too tame and too immature to voice their opinion globally. And I don’t see that changing in the near future.

But the west doesn’t realize it’s mistakes - the arguments we keep hearing are - economic issues in boycotting China, supply chains, blah blah. Maybe 25 years from now, if China has outgrown the entire west, it’ll become even more aggressive. The west will then stop to ponder “oh wish we had done something 25 years ago”
