艾靉 I just saw this guy’s wiki page by accident (I was looking at the article about the Battle of Changde). Without looking it up, how do you think his name is pronounced?
After learning how it’s pronounced, now, imagine calling into the MoD and say “我想要找國防部常務次長艾靉。”
I learned that I pronounced 骰 wrong all these years: it should be pronounced as 頭 (tóu), not shǎi.

TLDR; in Middle Chinese, a dice is either called 骰子 or 色子. What happened in Mandarin is that people started saying 色子, but wrote 骰子 instead. In Taigi, it’s called tâu-á and written as 骰子.

I have never seen 鱻 used anywhere other than in the name of a seafood restaurant. Also 犇 (奔) for steak houses or beef noodle shops. 羴 (羶) for mutton hot pot restaurants.
