Circles.Life Taiwan [shutting down in July 2024]

Yup FET is up to their tricks again with their foreigners not allowed. That said it’s a crappy deal anyway so…
Otherwise I’d say to contact the NCC and bitch them out if refused

Dunno if it’s still the case, but when I was looking at ibon a couple of years back, they didn’t accept foreigners.

Good luck! You will see two different ones. The English will be prepaid only and the Chinese has a postpaid plan which are actually good but the issue is that they only accept Taiwan ID lol

I looked into this briefly this morning. My understanding is the best alternative for those wanting month-to-month is to go to FET and get a prepaid card. That can then be topped off at ibon without much hassle.

See this post:

Also see this report:

That’s just some initial research.

I think I read somewhere that one a Taiwan Mobile prepaid can also be topped off at Ibon machines, but unsure.

I might go with the 3 months plan from Chunghwa, just have to check if I can transfer my number.

Just received the following offer from CHT - not sure if it’s related to Circles or just regular advertising:

【中華電信第二門號推廣】網路獨家獻禮來囉!月繳$299享每月上網6.2GB、網內200分鐘及$200點數購物金(可抵電信帳單,等同首月免月租),還可享用Hami Video電視館觀看精采賽事!另有$499享21Mbps上網吃到飽方案供您選擇!完成線上申請並至神腦特約門市開通取卡,再贈4800mAh行動電源(攜碼)或$199神腦購物金(新辦)!快來搶辦↗ https://cht.tw/x/6by35

Their unlimited data is also 24 months it seems.

Well this sucks. I can’t remember if I had FarEastone before. I know I had T-Star, which was garbage, another which was meh, and then Circles which was great. In terms of getting usable signal in most areas.

I also use a second Circles line for home internet, so I need to find somewhere new with unlimited data.

Good overview of service quality here:

I found a home internet + phone plan at FET but couldn’t find one at CHT.

So i used circle life for the longest time because it was only 300 unlimited. But now its ceasing all operations in taiwan so they told me I got to transfer my number to another phone company. Is there anything similar to circle life and its prices?

I am using 大哥大 prepaid sim with unlimited data and limited calls. You pay in advance for a specified time period and there is no bill or contract. It’s good so far for me, and it’s cheap, like 3,500 NT for six months.

Maybe Ibon mobile?

Hello, would you happen to know if they accept American credit cards for payment like Circles?

I use FET. They’re okay. Cheaper than most providers in the US and better coverage and speed.

Was with TW mobile before, now with FET. Noticed a slightly worse reception at my place in Neihu, but in the open and on the mrt never had an issue so far. Roaming plans also cheaper.

I use Changhua.~$1100 a month and somehow get a free new flagship phone every two years

Last time I went in and wanted to like downgrade a mid-level phone which had some particular things I wanted and they said you can have any phone you want for free so hey

I think they have plans that include phones at even $800 a month or maybe less

If I were you, I would ask people in your area what is a “good” company. A “good” company one place, is not necessarily good everywhere.

Changhua Telco was terrible in my apartment building despite being the big company it is. FET is alright but at night the speeds slow down considerably.

oh nice, may i ask for more info about this? i am interested for this one. And do they limit the speed for this? thank you.

Speed is OK for my uses I find. 720 pixels movie doesn’t get stuck buffering. If you go higher resolution or have multiple devices going it starts getting stuck. But I think 720 is fine anyway. I actually renewed it today coincidently. Just go to 大哥大 and ask for the 180 day unlimited data for 3,500 NT.

hi, thank you so much for the info. Appreciate it
