Wondering if anyone knows where I can learn some Chinese in the Yingge area. So maybe Taoyuan, Shulin…Sanxia even. Or Taipei on the weekends? I work daily 12-7 or 8, so the typical evening classes don’t work well with me. I’m looking for more conversational skills than alot of written, but will do both if available.
You sound like an ideal candidate for language exchanges. Hey, you’re surrounded by a population of native speakers, many of whom would like to learn English. Get out there, and try a handful of them out, and you’ll find a good LE partner after a few tries. I’ve had half a dozen SUPERB LE partners in my 11+ years here, and I’ve only tried about thrice that many folk, so I’ve had about a 35% success rate in finding good partners. Pretty good, really, considering how how high my standards are.
Jia1you2!!!
DB, how do you negotiate the LE up-front? I’ve only ever had a couple over the years, both of which went very well. The reason I never got into the LE scene more seriously is because I couldn’t be arsed with the dance at the start where you have to make it clear that it’s an EXCHANGE not a free English class. The couple of LEs I had were both Chinese teachers who knew the drill already, and as such I suspect they were atypical cases. What do you look for in an LE partner, and how do you go about setting up the exchange?
