Chinese New Year’s Day is February 9th next year. What does everyone have planned for the holiday? Do you happen to know when the CNY break for the local schools starts?
BH, eager to get home for CNY and of course, waiting until the last minute to make reservations.
I know that it is probably the best way to ensure a seat, but is there any financial advantage in booking tickets now for travel during Chinese New Year? In other words, if I book a ticket now (in September) for travel during Chinese New Year, would it (possibly) be cheaper because it is an advanced purchase?
Or is every ticket always going to be more during Chinese New Year, no matter when you book it?
Prices are the same. Booking early just means you get to go. I’m thinking about heading to somewhere remote in the Philippines. Maybe Camiguin, maybe El Nido. Boracay is the back-up plan…
If previous years are anything to go bym I’ll probably be at home in Taipei wishing I wasn’t so bloody broke. But I love it actually. A week ro 2 of nothing to do. Bliss.
Ahem. I do believe I was the one who first posted with this subject line.
We’ll be going home to you-know-where. That’s the plan, at least. We’ll stay with relatives part of the time, and maybe spend some time by ourselves at the Pacific Islands Club.
Expensive compared to lots of the other destinations. Shopping’s expensive, dining out is expensive, hotels are expensive…
The rates PIC gave me were US250/night with free breakfast, and they also have special deals at the website that look pretty reasonable but those expire on Dec 19.
They also gave me contact information for one of their agents here. Call PIC Travel at 8369-1088 and ask for Jenny. Their website is pic-travel.com.tw but I haven’t checked it out yet. I’m still waiting on quotes from them because my needs are a little different.
Thank you!!! Would you believe some people find it offensive? :loco: Like it’s kiddie porn or something.
we were at PCI last chinese new year and it was pretty darn good. (wave to BH) Lots and lots of water activities for children and adults alike. Clean, well-organized, and lots of fun!
Am not sure about costs because we were part of a tour but the facilities were worth it. I’d recommend going there any time!
The thing is that the place is bursting with Chinese and Japanese tourists (especially during CNY hols) … so if you’re looking for a change in scenery, ain’t going to happen!

And why do you like it there?
Boracay is perfect. Cebu has great, cheap shopping.
