I was there for the soft opening and tried out a few dishes.
A very nice place, it’s a bit classier than Bongo’s, and the food was great.
They are aiming for a more Italian feel to the place, and are serving more pasta/pizza/Italian fare.
I believe many of the Bongos dishes will be offered at Coda at the same price, while some of their new dishes will be priced a little higher.
I’m not even sure if he’s officially open or not, but it’s well worth trying out.
They’re officially open.
Been there a couple times already.
Great food at a great price.
Menu is lacking some descriptions, so just take a stab at anything.
For example “Cheese Ravioli” was more like 4 cheese ravioli in a light pumpkin sauce. Great!
Pizzas are good, too.
Lots of veggie choices on the menu.
The Mrs. and I are looking to go out for some nice Italian tonight - without breaking the bank. Anyone know what the average prices are at this restaurant? Is it casual, business casual, or formal? Thanks!
And is it going to stay open later than Bongos (10) and Sababa (9)? I finish at 10 and need some good grub. I love The Cain and JBs but variety is the spice of life, nu?
V and I went there for dinner tonight, and what can I say? It was great! I can’t believe I’ve never been there before - I’ll certainly be going back again. Oh, not only was the food great, the portions were ample and the prices very reasonable.
Went back to Coda a few nights ago. It’s been a year since my last visit…
The Bad:
The service was terrible. The waitresses are unfriendly and one rolled her eyes at my wife when she asked her a question about an item on the menu. The place was full and it was pretty warm outside (It was about 8 pm), but I was sweating in there. I wasn’t the only one either. The dude at the next table went to put his hand up to the AC to see if it was working. I had to ask one of the girls if she could turn up the AC. She did eventually, like 15 minutes later. My pasta was good, my wife’s rice wasn’t. It was much too salty. She couldn’t take more than 2 bites of it. I think they raised their prices.
The Good:
My mushroom pasta.
When I told the cashier about the rice being too salty, she offered to make another one for us. I declined because we didn’t want to wait and it was hot as hell in there and because our mood was soured due to the terrible service.
Conclusion: I probably won’t be going back there. They either gotta train their servers better or hire cheerful people or give the girls raises so they don’t have a “Don’t talk to me, I just caught my boyfriend cheating on me with my best friend” look. One other note, I guess they don’t take reservations anymore? A little while back, I was going to take my junior high students in for dinner and was told that I couldn’t reserve a table. I told them that I had a party of 10 and I wasn’t going to bring them all in at 7:00 hoping to get a large table and waiting if one wasn’t available. I ended up taking them to Evan’s Burger.
