How many of you have more than one cup of coffee a day? How many of you drink coffee close to bedtime?

I have one to two cups a day, occasionally three. Sometimes I even have it before bedtime, but it doesn’t affect my ability to fall asleep. Am I immune to caffeine? Also, on occasions where coffee isn’t available in the morning, I am still a highly functioning human bean.

For me, a cup of good, hot coffee with milk and sugar is just the right way to start the day. It’s not an addiction, it’s more a routine.

So what are your coffee habits?

I go on and off. On a little these days which is maybe why we are sharing the same posting time despite living on different continents.

I like 2-3 cups a day, but I find it affects my balance which is not good for a hiker. Oolong tea is worse but how I love that aroma and flavour.

You may not feel caffeine withdrawl in one day but try three or four.

Addiction? Please. At worse a bad habit but who cares?

I don’t have caffeine withdrawal when I go a few days without coffee. That’s a made up concept, like nicotine withdrawal. Some people tell me they’re “addicted” to coffee, but I’d really like to see what happens to them when their local Starbucks closes for renos.

As a coffee drinker, I can proudly say at least I can commit to something, no issues there.

Oh no the withdrawal is real and I will get it within two days. Headaches, lethargy. I have stopped coffee many times and always the same. But every body is different.

Put up a poster of the Rock and we respond pretty differently too.

I drink a cup of cappuccino once in a while, on few occassions 2. If I am at work usually during / after lunch (don’t tell the Italians). But not every day, maybe 2 or 3 times a week only, don’t really need it.
I also can drink coffee or tea, coke etc. at any time without affecting my sleep (not that I sleep well anyway …).

I love my strong espresso in the morning, every morning. Often a latte at lunch. But I can’t drink any caffeine drink after about 3, or i can’t get to sleep until dawn…

I too get withdrawal headaches and irritability if I don’t have it, usually by about lunchtime the first day… so I guess I’m physically hooked.

Green tea or oolong teas are even worse, though I love them. I sometimes forget and then have a cup in a restaurant at dinner, and then have to stay up all night watching bad TV. Even green tea in cooking gets me.

It has become more pronounced as I get older. In my twenties it had very little effect.

Same here. One milky, sugary coffee at breakfast. Occasionally another caffeinated drink at lunch (but increasingly rare). After 3, it affects my sleep. I’ve even had chocolate affect my sleep, btw (but that would have to be pretty late on).

Also, regarding the withdrawal headaches, I also get them by about lunchtime the first day, and by that stage having a coffee is too late to sort that out. I have to have a headache pill or something.

Yay! Finally, some proof that I am not abnormal (or perhaps that Stu and I are both equally barking mad).

At least 5 super-sized cups a day, If I’m working .
Otherwise about 2 or 3.
No problems with sleeping, that’s when then the IV comes in handy. :beatnik:
