Connecting Telephone Wires

We moved into a new office and are a bit at a loss.
We thought the telecom would prepare our landline ready to plug and play but they just let the cable hang out of the wall and declared anything else not to be their responsibility.

We now have:

  • The end of a telephone cable sticking out of the wall
  • A big-ish white box
  • two land line phones
  • A fax-Printer combo
  • a router

The box doesn’t have a plug or socket that looks like it would interact with the phones of any sort.
Has anyone experience in how to convince these things to work together?

how did they test the connection if its just wires? they normally use a socket for that.

Easy answer: they didn’t. The guys just pulled the wire through the walls and connected it to the box on the street.

I gave the telecom company a few calls and they sent out another technician who then installed the socket and connected the splitter (if I understood him correctly). He also tested the connection.

should all just be plug and play now

Yep. Connected phone, fax and the router. All working as intended now. Albeit with an strong 90’s vibe.
