Converting MPEG1 Muxed video files for use in iMovie

Hi, all.

I have some Quicktime movie files that I want to use in iMovie, but they’re in the MPEG 1 muxed format; when I import to iMovie, I lose the sound file.

How can I convert them for use in iMovie? I have MPEG Streamclip, but no Quicktime Pro (which is one way, apparently).

Any help is much appreciated. I’m a bit of a tech idiot, so please type very slowly.

Download MPEG STREAMCLIP

Drag the file into the converter
Open>File>Export To Quick Time
Keep APPLE MOTION JPEG A
Hit “make movie”

If you’re uploading this to youtube, picke 720X480 box

If that doesn’t work for you: Use ISquint
That one is pretty user friendly
