Quick, get the toilet paper!
And talking about students: 92 students and teachers from a college in Xindian in monitoring because they visited the Novotel.
This is one of those six degrees of separation/who would have guessed kind of situation.
And to be honest, most college dorms should be disinfected regularly. And I am not talking just for COVID-19.
Why would students at college visit a quarantine hotel? Bit of a weird school trip.
Or is it a qurantine hotel that also serves as a sex hotel and they’ve all been having it away (the teachers included it seems)
“Hey kids, today we’re going to go visit a quarantine hotel during a pandemic. If you’re lucky, you might see a big-nosed foreigner staring unhappily out of the window after being forced to eat Taiwanese food for 14 days.”
Jesus, school trips in Taiwan must suck. Couldn’t they just go to Taroko or something?
@Icon Was a vocational school? Were those kids receiving unpaid “training”?

more like college of idiots
mine was 48 replies O_O
Guys, there are a few developments, I’d advise you to watch the presser.
4 local cases today. 3 family members of one case. One family member of another case.
Edit
Culture University one student was doing part time work at Novotel. Now isolated at home because he was already not working when TSHTF. But college still taking proper measures.
Interesting question: was the visit by the college students from Xindian to Novotel break the anti epidemic rules?
Update here in Chinese (no English yet). Keep safe , wash hands and hope they get it under control.
Seems like one of the cases got lunch at Balle Balle Indian Restaurant on 4/27… That restaurant is frequently visited by foreigners in Taiwan. I wonder if any Forumosans have visited since then
Shit, I love Balle Balle. The owner is a good guy. Hope it doesn’t affect his business.
Focus Taiwan has posted a report on today’s developments.
A housekeeper in her 60s working at the Novotel Hotel in Taoyuan tested positive last week; today her husband, son, and daughter tested positive too.
The pilot (the one who for some reason was allowed to do his quarantine at home and not in a hotel) who had infected his under-five-year-old child has also reportedly infected his daughter.
From the pilot’s case, I can gather that quarantining at home with family members present is a bad idea, especially with the UK variant around.
This virus is no joke.
Guy
The pilot seems to be case 1102?
Case #1102 is a Taiwanese male in his 30s who is a cargo pilot at the airline company which the Indonesian pilot worked for. He was on duty in the United States between April 6 and April 9. After returning to Taiwan, he underwent quarantine until April 14, and tested negative. He was asymptomatic in Taiwan. He was on duty again in the United States between April 19 and April 22. After returning to Taiwan, he quarantined at home, and experienced a cough and fever (37.8°C) on April 24. He was tested on April 25, before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 26 (the CT value was 18).

More details on buses the person took to get the restaurant.
Why was this permitted?
Guy
Guess he tested negative/they had shorter quarantine measures/who knows?
The CECC was trying to be flexible, getting families together more. One would think at home quarantine would be isolated too but with small kids? Wasn’t it you could not stay at home if there were kids?
Curious and curioser…
Well I am happy about working from home in the following weeks, but this is horrible.
Do the kids of hotel emplyee go to school?
The COVID positive hotel worker I mentioned is in her 60s.
I don’t think her children are school age.
