Case numbers seem to indicate a downturn in transmission. Maintain restrictions and we can probably beat it way down.

The goal must be eradication. Otherwise you remove the restrictions and case numbers escalate again…
The difference between ‘Reported’ and ‘Excluded’+‘Confirmed’ is not necessarily the samples awaiting for analysis, and has nothing to do with the daily reported backlog number. According to the CECC, the backlogs are not even part of the “Reported” numbers. The backlogs also have nothing to do with testing capacity. They are due to delays in data entries. CECC explained the reasons for the discrepancies at least a week back:

Actually some countries in the EU almost eradicated it last Summer. What happened was they didn’t have quarantine and it got reseeded e.g. Ireland!
It’s all trackable by the sequence of the predominant variants.

EU is still exporting vaccines. Only vendors in breach of contract with the EU will be denied export rights (mostly targeted at AZ which ship all their vaccines to UK, but not EU). Biontech was granted approval all the time to export because they keep fulfilling their contract. Last one was 100 million doses to Japan.
So that’s 112 deaths since the airline staff let the virus in and the Lyin’ King spread it. Will they be charged with mass manslaughter?

I’d be a billionaire and a VIP if I knew just who. A VIP as someone being invited to all these special and private events by the ruling elite in the world. Biden has already ordered a task force to study the origins of the novel coronavirus.
It would be nice if their consciences are tortured for the rest of their lives that their grossly irresponsible decisions and actions led to so many deaths. But I doubt it.

They are asking asymptomatic people who live in hot zones and may have had contact with someone who got COVID to go test.
The president gave a speech reassuring folks that the vaccines are on their way and talked about the vaccination plans in place once the vaccines are acquired.
The press meanwhile keeps muddling the field. There are a couple of pieces that could be discussed if they were not bordering on fake news, one hopes. Mostly related to buying vaccines.
Taipei situation still dire, but other parts of the country seem pretty stable with comparatively very low case rates. Although I do wonder how many unknown chains of transmission are silently spreading.
Some time ago somebody here in this thread suggested as a joke that level 4 will never be reached since all cases without apparent link will just be prevented from not having a link by being labeled as being related to the “Northern Taiwan cluster”…
Apparently, this has now become reality in the form of the “Taipei/New Taipei City” cluster
And if this is not sufficient, one could always retry with the "Taiwan cluster"
