Coronavirus - Taiwan Open November/December 2021

Yeah if you forget the fact that “students” are actually people.

No school in Taiwan has (as of yet) a 100% rate.

So i am discussing it. What are the answers to the questions?
Why didn’t she get tested?
Did they follow protocol?
If not, why not?

i know…under investigation

You are right…so pretty pointless mandating teachers at elementary level and below then since it changes the percentage of people vaccinated at elementary schools by only a few percentage points.

0 + 6 = 6 and no deaths.

More updates posted today by Chase Nelson on the Academia Sinica lab case. I’ll string them all together here—apologies for the length; the details are not visible if I place them in “summary” mode.

And just like that, we know this all started in China.

Edit: “we know how this…”

And with the case in Nangang, hopefully that is where it ends!

Maybe this particular event is over, but the threat will never end. The shadow of COVID will loom over us until it inevitably gets in. I’m betting on sometime after CNY. If we have 80% vaccination rate, and Omicron, the likely dominant strain soon, is as mild as I’m reading … then we’ll probably be fine.

As always, we’re buying time. And the more time we have, the more data we’ll have, and the more tools we’ll have—including forms of treatment—to manage this virus and its impact.

Chen has just said he’s looking to go to level one after CNY. Says omnicron is a milder version and we all need to grow a pair and get on with our lives.

(I might have added the last bit)

I’m all for treatments, vaccines, even masks I could live with… please just no more lockdowns, work-from-home periods, and I really hope international borders open soon. That shutting down of society stuff really affects the mental health after a while.

Do you have a source?

We better hope it is not circulating undetected just before the New Year or we are truly f…d.
I do not mean in terms of lives lost I mean that we will be locked down tight.

Personally I doubt Taiwan will do another quasi level3 lockdown that we saw May to the end of JULY. They will just keep the borders shut for all eternity if they have to, and I believe majority of Taiwanese are fully OK with that.

Unless you’re an airline staff member or somebody who has to travel for a living. Can’t imagine how many covid tests the pilots and flight crew have endured. I’m sure they are at wits end.

Those poor buggers must be going absolutely nuts. Are Taiwan’s pilots still subject to rules like HK or have they gone back to “don’t ask don’t tell”? It seems to have dropped out of the news.

I’m actually surprised how readily the airlines have gone along with the BS given the serious impact on their business. A bit of solidarity would have quickly brought governments to the realisation that they rely on these companies to keep national economies running smoothly.

It’s always best to be honest about such things. :upside_down_face:

0 + 5 = 5 and no deaths.

Also, Level 2 remains until December 27.

With the lab leak, we have had some serious horseshoes sticking out of our back pockets. I’m still bracing for some clusters to show up somewhere . . .
