The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (2) that there were 27,085 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 26,793 local cases and 292 imported cases; 74 new deaths were added among the confirmed cases.
According to the command center, 26,793 new local cases were added today, including 12,043 males, 14,727 females, and 23 cases under investigation. The age ranged from under 5 years old to over 90 years old. The cases were distributed in New Taipei City (5,102 cases), Kaohsiung City (3,284 cases), Taichung City (3,177 cases), Taoyuan City (3,001 cases), Taipei City (2,409 cases), Tainan City (2,224 cases), Changhua County (1,331 cases), Hsinchu County (814 cases), Miaoli County (680 cases), Pingtung County (655 cases), Yunlin County (581 cases), Hsinchu City (578 cases), Yilan County (549 cases), Keelung City (541 cases), Hualien County (448 cases), Nantou County (408 cases), Chiayi County (388 cases), Chiayi City (235 cases), Taitung County (185 cases), Kinmen County (116 cases), Penghu County (74 cases), Lianjiang County (13 cases) .
The command center pointed out that there were 74 local deaths reported today, including 44 males and 30 females, aged from their 60s to 90s. All of them had severe infections, 71 had a history of chronic diseases, 55 hadn’t received the recommended 3 or more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 43 hadn’t received any doses at all. The date of diagnosis was from December 29th (2022) to January 30th (2023), and the date of death was from January 17th to January 30th this year.
The command center explained that among the 292 new cases of overseas immigration today, 154 were males and 138 were females, with ages ranging from less than 5 years old to more than 80 years old. The entry date is between December 25 last year and February 1 this year.
According to the statistics of the command center, as of now, there have been 21,745,387 notifications related to new coronavirus pneumonia in Taiwan (including 12,146,784 cases excluded), of which 9,596,660 cases have been confirmed, including 49,056 imported cases, 9,547,550 local cases, 36 from the Dunmu fleet, 3 cases of aircraft infection, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, there have been a total of 16,430 COVID-19 deaths, of which 16,409 were local. The command center once again appealed that the public should complete vaccination as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene and cough etiquette, reduce unnecessary movement, activities or gatherings, and avoid entering and leaving crowded places or places with high risk of infection transmission. Actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, and remind people with sensitive constitutions, chronic diseases, fever, or respiratory symptoms that it is still recommended to wear masks in densely populated areas to jointly maintain the health of domestic communities.
