The Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) panel convened on Dec. 8 to review 90 recently filed cases involving individuals seeking compensation because of side effects from taking COVID-19 vaccines, and decided that claims in 12 cases were valid.

“follow four COVID-19 prevention rules — get vaccinated against COVID-19, conduct a rapid test when symptoms occur, take oral anti-viral drugs if eligible within five days of the start of symptoms, and maintain personal hygiene, including wearing a mask and washing hands frequently.”
Only one of these is prevention. And that one is debatable.

But all those 90-year-olds with the same conditions who “die of COVID” definitely died of COVID.
I wonder if the other 11 cases - which aren’t described - might make the authorities look less magnanimous?
Links from this article suggest that they meet once or twice a month to deliberate over compensation claims, with a similar number of claims to process on each occasion (something less than 100). They appear to throw out 80%+ of them.
Considering how much info we get about the covid deaths, you’d think we would get more info about these 12.

Early Lunar arrivals from China, I would guess.
So, if arrivals test positive upon arrival from China, are they sent to a quarantine hotel or is it just assumed that they will self-quarantine and self-isolate based on their “honor”?
If it’s the honor system, the China Virus will spread like wildfire, IMHO.
It will regardless. “Quarantine” doesn’t work, and nor does anything else. Not on something that’s as infectious this version. Supposedly, it spreads so fast that it’s impossible to even measure R0.
I really wish people would just accept that COVID is here to stay, get themselves out in the sunshine, get as healthy as possible (in general terms), stop worrying, and stop taking those blasted “boosters” that just make everything worse for everybody. The gubmint isn’t coming to save us, and the sooner we stop this horrific serial-passage experiment, the sooner we can say goodbye to aggressive new variants and “mitigation measures”.
I totally agree with the exception of “aggressive new variants”. They’re more contagious (which makes trying to ‘keep them out’ even more ridiculous), but that’s it.
And I totally agree with the exception of this bit. You know many of us are in northern Taiwan, right?
The point there was that repeated vaccination seems to be driving virus evolution in a manner which could have absolutely tragic consequences. Evolutionary biology is still a young science and there’s a lot we still don’t know, but the studies that have been done so far indicate that variants arising in heavily-vaccinated populations (and China is one of those) show a more limited range of genotypes which - presumably - are well-adapted to vaccine evasion. Couple that with the apparent immune-suppressing effect of repeatedly boosting people, and you’ve got a recipe for yet another disaster.
Fortunately the vast majority of people worldwide have had enough boosting, so we might (hopefully) be looking at a more natural evolutionary path for the virus.
I understand. However, I will bet my foreskin no deadlier variants come out of China. Even if they might do, no travel restriction attempts to contain them will work.
