Someone asked me yesterday if I was going to get a second booster. I don’t plan to, and I assume most people aren’t running to get theirs now. But does anyone know where they show numbers for how many of these (Moderna Bivalent) shots have been given in Taiwan?

And right on cue, as posted above by @MalcolmReynolds:
The epidemic of COVID-19 virus variants in the world continues and the domestic epidemic is on the rise. The command center calls on those who have not been vaccinated with the Moderna bivalent BA.4/5 next-generation vaccine to get vaccinated to improve immune protection.
Anecdotally there seemed to be a rush for these bivalent shots in Taipei City’s Tienmu distrinct yesterday. I wondered if folks have been watching the news about China and wondering how soon some of the omicron soup brewing there will arrive here (short answer: soon, with the Lunar New Year travels coming up).

Some of the jargon there is difficult to follow, but the details of this seem to suck for tourists/visitors. It appears to suggest that if you test positive, you’re getting locked up at your own expense whether you need treatment or not?
It looks like if you test positive, then you’ll have to be treated and quarantined at your own expense.
The individual is not at liberty to decide whether or not they require treatment, as it ought to be IMHO.
Japan is now requiring tests for all incoming travelers from China and those that test positive will be quarantined.
We should do the same thing for all the Taiwanese who find it so fucking important to live and work in China and want to come back during CNY. Test positive upon arrival, quarantine hotel at your own expense until negative!
The command center can stick its call where the sun doesn’t shine, as far as I’m concerned. AFAIK, the protection afforded by the “next-generation” vaccines (soon to be “previous-generation” vaccines) against whatever variants might emerge in China hasn’t been assessed.
Someone needs to order another eight BALB/c mice.
Based on your recent posting, yes your views of public health guidelines are abundantly clear.

As are yours. And if it ever happens that the guidelines start making sense, I’ll perhaps start respecting them again.
Statistically speaking, though, nobody gives a rat’s ass. Taiwanese people do seem to be a bit more gullible than most, but the vast majority of the world’s population have belatedly realised that it’s a stupid game and they’re not playing. In the US and Europe, uptake is about 10% so far.
As well as being very helpful. And accurate.
CECC made good prediction last week. Number of cases are indeed rising. Hopefully the new wave won’t last too long. There were new cases in our kids school.
The new cases represented a 40.4-percent increase from the same day a week earlier.
At least there’s only one decimal place this time.
My partner had Booster #4 (6th shot) this morning.
Wow, that’s a lot. Did the side effects get better or worse over time? Have they already had COVID as well, or have they managed to avoid it so far?
No side effects, never had Covid - just worried about getting the lurgy.
