Summary
The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (30) that there were 27,413 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, which were 27,220 local cases and 193 imported cases; 34 new deaths were added among the confirmed cases.
According to the command center, 27,220 new local cases were added today, including 12,132 males, 15,065 females, and 23 cases under investigation. The age ranged from less than 5 years old to over 90 years old. The distribution of cases was New Taipei City (5,435 cases), Taichung City (3,636 cases), Taipei City (3,101 cases), Taoyuan City (3,063 cases), Kaohsiung City (2,660 cases), Tainan City (2,223 cases), Changhua County (1,298 cases), Hsinchu County (995 cases), Hsinchu County City (871 cases), Miaoli County (701 cases), Yunlin County (535 cases), Pingtung County (528 cases), Keelung City (368 cases), Nantou County (368 cases), Chiayi County (352 cases), Yilan County (299 cases), Hualien County (237 cases), Chiayi City (232 cases), Taitung County (136 cases), Kinmen County (111 cases), Penghu County (65 cases), Lianjiang County (6 cases) .
The command center pointed out that there were 34 new deaths today, including 15 males and 19 females aged from under the age of 5 to over 90 years old. All had severe infections, 33 had a history of chronic diseases, 21 hadn’t received the recommended 3 or more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 14 hadn’t received any doses at all. The date of diagnosis was from June 23 to December 27 today (2022), and the date of death was from July 1 to December 27, as detailed in the attachment of the press release.
The command center explained that among the 193 new imported cases today, 87 were males and 106 were females, ranging in age from less than 5 years old to over 90 years old, from Japan (5 cases), South Korea (4 cases), China, Hong Kong and Vietnam (3 cases each), 1 case in Turkey, and another 174 cases are under national investigation. The entry date is from November 29 to December 29 this year.
According to the statistics of the command center, as of now, there have been a total of 20,746,560 notifications related to the new type of coronavirus pneumonia in Taiwan (including 11,924,012 cases excluded), of which 8,821,620 cases have been confirmed, including 40,134 imported cases, 8,781,432 local cases, 36 of the Dunmu fleet, 3 cases of aircraft infection, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, there have been a total of 15,215 COVID-19 deaths, including 15,198 local cases. The counties and cities where the cases reside are 2,967 in New Taipei City, 1,654 in Taipei City, 1,618 in Taichung City, 1,497 in Kaohsiung City, 1,134 in Tainan City, and 1,134 in Taoyuan City. 1,123 cases, 964 cases in Changhua County, 589 cases in Pingtung County, 500 cases in Yunlin County, 492 cases in Nantou County, 420 cases in Miaoli County, 395 cases in Chiayi County, 322 cases in Yilan County, 314 cases in Keelung City, 263 cases in Hualien County, 260 cases in Chiayi City, 254 cases in Hsinchu County, 194 cases in Taitung County, 164 cases in Hsinchu City, 37 cases in Kinmen County, 37 cases in Penghu County; the other 17 cases were imported from abroad.
The command center once again appealed that the public should complete vaccination as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene and cough etiquette, reduce unnecessary movement, activities or gatherings, and avoid entering and leaving crowded places or places with high risk of infection transmission. Actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, and remind people with sensitive constitutions, chronic diseases, fever, or respiratory symptoms that it is still recommended to wear masks in densely populated areas to jointly maintain the health of domestic communities.
