The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (28th) that there were 28,168 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 27,942 local cases and 226 imported cases; 25 new deaths were added among the confirmed cases.
According to the command center, 27,942 new local cases were added today, including 12,740 males, 15,190 females, and 12 cases under investigation. The age ranged from less than 5 years old to over 90 years old. The distribution of cases was New Taipei City (5,657 cases), Taichung City (3,600 cases), Taoyuan City (3,252 cases), Taipei City (3,211 cases), Kaohsiung City (2,712 cases), Tainan City (2,323 cases), Changhua County (1,324 cases), Hsinchu County (1,089 cases), Hsinchu City City (924 cases), Miaoli County (668 cases), Pingtung County (506 cases), Yunlin County (484 cases), Keelung City (361 cases), Yilan County (353 cases), Chiayi County (345 cases), Nantou County (343 cases), Chiayi City (248 cases), Hualien County (229 cases), Taitung County (130 cases), Kinmen County (128 cases), Penghu County (52 cases), Lianjiang County (3 cases) .
The command center pointed out that there were 25 new deaths today, including 16 males and 9 females, aged from their 50s to 90s. All of them had severe infections, 23 had a history of chronic diseases, 15 hadn’t received the recommended 3 or more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 10 hadn’t received any doses at all. The date of diagnosis was from October 28 to December 24 today (2022), and the date of death was from December 17 to December 25, as detailed in the attachment of the press release.
According to the command center, among the 226 new imported cases today, 108 were males and 118 were females, ranging in age from less than 5 years old to more than 80 years old, from China (17 cases), Hong Kong (12 cases), Japan (10 cases), Thailand and Germany (2 cases each), the United States, New Zealand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Italy and South Korea (1 case each), and another 177 cases of infection are under national investigation. The entry date is between November 27 and December 27 this year.
According to the statistics of the command center, as of now, a total of 20,681,923 cases of new coronavirus pneumonia related notifications in Taiwan (including 11,914,704 cases excluded), of which 8,766,272 cases were confirmed, respectively 39,796 cases of overseas imports, 8,726,422 cases of local cases, 36 from the Dunmu fleet, 3 cases of aircraft infection, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, there have been a total of 15,145 COVID-19 deaths, including 15,128 local cases. The counties and cities where the cases lived were distributed as follows: 2,954 cases in New Taipei City, 1,645 cases in Taipei City, 1,609 cases in Taichung City, 1,484 cases in Kaohsiung City, 1,132 cases in Tainan City, and 1,132 cases in Taoyuan City. 1,121 cases, 956 cases in Changhua County, 585 cases in Pingtung County, 499 cases in Yunlin County, 492 cases in Nantou County, 416 cases in Miaoli County, 394 cases in Chiayi County, 322 cases in Yilan County, 313 cases in Keelung City, 262 cases in Hualien County, There were 260 cases in Chiayi City, 254 cases in Hsinchu County, 193 cases in Taitung County, 163 cases in Hsinchu City, 37 cases in Kinmen County, and 37 cases in Penghu County; the other 17 cases were immigrants from abroad.
The command center once again appealed that the public should complete vaccination as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene and cough etiquette, reduce unnecessary movement, activities or gatherings, and avoid entering and leaving crowded places or places with high risk of infection transmission. Actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, and remind people with sensitive constitutions, chronic diseases, fever, or respiratory symptoms that it is still recommended to wear masks in densely populated areas to jointly maintain the health of domestic communities.
