The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (12) that there were 663 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 551 local cases and 112 imported cases (30 cases were positive for flight landing tests); there were no new confirmed case deaths.

The command center said that there were 551 new local cases today, including 291 males and 260 females, aged between 5 and 90 years old, and the onset date was from April 4 to April 12, 2022. Today, 242 of them were asymptomatic infections. The distribution of cases is New Taipei City (162 cases), Taipei City (115 cases), Kaohsiung City (61 cases), Taoyuan City (53 cases), Keelung City (37 cases), Hualien County (31 cases), Taichung City (26 cases) ), Hsinchu County (16 cases), Pingtung County (14 cases), Tainan City (9 cases), Yilan County and Hsinchu City (8 cases each), Chiayi County (4 cases), Miaoli County (3 cases), Yun Lin County (2 cases), Changhua County and Nantou County (1 case each). The command center explained that today’s new cases of immigration from abroad are 60 males, 50 females, and 2 cases under investigation, aged in their 10s to 60s, from Indonesia (18 cases), Vietnam (16 cases), and the Philippines. According to the statistics of the command center, up to now, a total of 7,438,164 cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia have been reported in Taiwan (including 7,409,246 excluded), of which 28,666 were confirmed, including 9,077 imported cases, 19,535 local cases, 36 Dunmu Fleet cases, 3 aircraft infections, 1 Unknown cases and 14 cases under investigation; 37 new cases with empty numbers (negative cases after the epidemic adjustment, and the numbers are changed to empty numbers), and a total of 182 cases have been removed as empty numbers. The command center explained that, in addition to the text messaging system, the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP” is also a powerful tool for scientific and technological epidemic prevention, and it is faster and more accurate than the current real-time contact system in notifying contacts of confirmed cases. The “Taiwan Social Distance APP” only needs to be downloaded and installed, and no registration and login information is required. It mainly uses Bluetooth technology to record relevant information. In order to use it more comprehensively, the command center has optimized the functions of this APP, including “Dynamic Screen on Homepage” and “Uploading Contact Information of Diagnosed Persons”. “Data” is notified by the health unit to the confirmed people to operate the APP to obtain the verification code, and then the system uploads their random ID and activity interval data. The user’s APP will generate a random ID every 15 minutes, and use the bluetooth signal to record the random IDs that have been in contact. The APP compares the random IDs uploaded by the diagnosed patients every day. The general public only needs to turn on the bluetooth function. If there is a contact record with a confirmed person, the APP will issue a warning notification to remind the user to achieve the effect of real contact notification.

The command center pointed out that the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP” can only be most effective when it is widely used by the public. This APP will be combined with the current text messaging system. When people enter the venue, they only need to show the APP screen, and other practical measures will be avoided. Provide a more convenient way of self-epidemic prevention. In order to increase the usage rate of the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP”, staff of government agencies and key infrastructure providers will be encouraged to install and use it, and the general public will be encouraged to use it together. It is also recommended that certain or unspecified majority of people enter the venues or specific activities, such as restaurants, markets, concerts or border crossings and other venues or activities, to give priority to using this APP as a technological epidemic prevention tool. will be faster and more accurate.

The command center appeals that the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP” can notify possible contacts as soon as a confirmed case is confirmed, and can take into account personal privacy. Probably because there was only 1 flight from Vietnam, and the positivity rate was 3.9% on that flight

I think the mod might have misunderstood the point of this thread. It’s still a discussion thread. There’s no point constantly pruning it. In point of fact the pruning is ruining the flow of discussion. If the numbers come out at 2 pm then expect discussion of the numbers.

Once all hope of containing the virus is lost, and if deaths are relatively low, they’ll reopen the borders. It could be as quick as June/July if we are lucky.
