Hey, this might not be the place but, as of right now, when leaving Taiwan by plane (from Taoyuan), are you required anything specific from the Taiwanese Airport Authorities in terms of covid test (antigen, PCR, vaccination) other than the required by your landing destination?
I know it sounds a bit wack if they did, but I just wonder if anyone has first-hand recent experience or written statements of such?
Other than what is required at your port of entry (and, if applicable, transit airport and airline), the answer I think is “no.”

When I flew to Canada about a month ago on EVA, there were no requirements for anything on the Taiwanese side.
There are very few exceptions left where you need something else than a vaccination card & Visa depending on your passport. https://www.kayak.com/travel-restrictions? seems to be fairly accurate. It lists 172 countries as open, 30 requiring pre-departure test, 3 requiring quarantine and 22 as closed.
With a USA passport countries still fully closed are
Puts its into perspective how idiotic our border rules here in Taiwan really are. Thankfully going out of Taiwan only the rules of the destination matter hence going out is now very straightforward.

96 new confirmed cases of Omicron subtype variants, including 34 local cases and 62 imported cases
Release date: 2022-08-22
Summary
The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (22) that there were 96 new confirmed cases of Omicron subtype variants in Taiwan, including 34 local cases and 62 imported cases (the other 2 local cases were both in August 2022). The family contacts of the northern BA.4 local case announced on August 15 were explained at the press conference on August 19). Up to now, the accumulative cases of imported Omicron subtype variant strains detected in China are: 78 cases of BA.4, 605 cases of BA.5, 8 cases of BA.2.75, and a total of 92 cases of BA.5 and 3 cases of BA. 4 local confirmed cases, no local confirmed cases of BA2.75.
The command center pointed out that there were 34 new local cases of Omicron subtype variant BA.5 today, including 22 males and 12 females, ranging in age from under 5 years old to over 90 years old, with 26 cases in the north and 2 cases in the middle. , 6 cases in the south, and the date of diagnosis was between August 3 and August 14.
The command center stated that 2 strains of BA.4, 57 strains of BA.5, and 3 strains of BA.2.75 were newly detected in the domestic and overseas immigration cases. The cases were 33 males and 29 females, aged between 5 and 5. Over 70 years old, entry days are between August 3 and August 16 this year. Among them, BA.4 cases were detected from South Korea and France (1 case each); BA.5 cases were detected from Vietnam (10 cases), the Philippines (5 cases), Germany, the United States and Singapore (4 cases each), Thailand (3 cases) example), Japan, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Canada, South Korea and Turkey (2 cases each), Russia, Indonesia, Italy, Denmark, Seychelles, New Zealand, South Africa, Cambodia, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and Uzbekistan (1 case each); BA.2.75 cases were imported from India, Thailand, and the United States (1 case each).
The command center explained that the World Health Organization (WHO) data on August 17 this year pointed out that the BA.5 variant is now the mainstream strain in the world, accounting for about 74%, and the BA.4 variant accounts for about 8%. So far At least 121 countries have reported cases of BA.5 variant infection, which has spread widely in Europe, America, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia and other countries, resulting in an increase in the number of cases, hospitalizations and severe cases, close to Singapore, mainland China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia China and Vietnam have also reported local outbreaks of BA.5 mutant strains; as the virus continues to evolve, the number of cases in the BA.5 mutant strain branch (BA.5.X) has increased, among which BA.5.1 and BA.5.2.1 are the most and need to be Continuous tracking and monitoring. According to the existing research, the booster vaccine is still protective against the BA.5 variant, and it is an effective way to prevent hospitalization, severe illness and death. We call on eligible subjects to speed up the vaccination.
The command center emphasized that according to existing research, the probability of serious illness caused by BA.4 and BA.5 is not significantly higher, but the infectivity has increased, and strict monitoring is still required. In order to strengthen the monitoring of local cases of Omicron BA.4, BA.5 and other mutant viruses, the command center has increased the proportion of local cases of mutant strain type testing and sequencing, and focused on the respiratory tract of severe and repeated infection cases such as COVID-19 childhood encephalitis. The sample gene sequencing operation is also planned to strengthen the monitoring of cases in the community with the existing respiratory virus contract laboratory monitoring network. In addition, getting the COVID-19 vaccine reduces the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, or death from contracting COVID-19. The command center calls on the public to still implement personal epidemic prevention measures such as frequent handwashing and wearing masks, and complete vaccinations as soon as possible to gain protection.

So much for BA.5 exploding (maybe that won’t age well, but you’d think there would be an increase by now).
Ah, but it could have exploded if we hadn’t all been dutifully wearing masks, and keeping the borders closed. It is only the wisdom of the CECC that has preserved us from such a fate.
