Costco 2026

I rarely come to Costco anymore, but I just had the calzone. I don’t know if I’ll be able to trust you again after saying it’s better than the beef rolls. Those have real beef, the meatballs in the calzone are :face_vomiting:

I don’t see any cookies.

Indeed: as I posted somewhere upthread, the “meat” in that calzone is shockingly poor quality. A pity, because the crust was, while not great, better than I was expecting.

Worst part is that after a couple of hours I’m still tasting them from time to time.

well personally I dont like those meat roll things.

The calzone was typical American pizza stuff, you should know what you are getting into. Gourmet Italian style calzone it ain’t.

But for me, the best out of a bad bunch of food disasters.

I’d get the hot dog over the calzone but I dont want a soda so it’s kind of a waste of money.

The calzone comes with a soda too, at least in Taiwan. I’ve actually grown to like them, don’t think of it as a calzone but as a folded pizza slice!

Both come with a soda. And the price is so low, you can easily just forgo the soda without worrying about cost, waste, or whatever.

The calzone is good, imo. But I had it the last three times I went and I think I’m ready to go back to my usual of a hot dog, soda (which I never finish), and clam chowder soup.

Sigh. I’m heading to Costco sometime this week and, because I’m unable to learn from mistakes, I’m probably going to try the calzone again. Depends on timing. Last time, the beef roll reheated at home, with added sauces, was much better than eating it in the food court, so I’ll get that if lunch or dinner is going to be an hour or two later, rather than when I’m in the store.

I don’t suppose the pizza flavours have improved?

If the (now-absent) pizza came with pepperoni equal in quality to what’s in the calzone I had, I wouldn’t enjoy the pizza either. But based on the different reviews I’m now wondering if the calzone sometimes has different ingredients. I consider some pretty dire “meat” to be passable–yet the calzone I had fell even below that threshold.

Speaking of suspect meat, time to watch another episode of Fallout!

Ah yes, now I remember i gave the drink to my girlfriend.

Maybe the reason I haven’t got a hotdog since the first one was the hassle it takes to prepare it and the madness thats usually taking place in the seating plus onion area. Can’t be doing with it.

What happened to the chicken burgers? They used to be decent.

The drink is essentially free, so you’re not wasting much. Maybe 1 TWD of value? Not really an issue.

Whenever I buy hotdogs there I usually buy two to take home but only want one soft drink, or rather half of a cup to have while I’m waiting for the taxi. So I just take one of the two cups and tell them to keep the rest, along with all the pointless plastic junk like the lids, the little sachets of whatever, and the pointless plastic container of onions when they used to do that.

To each their own I guess. I tried it once. Would not buy another. Pretty weak imo.

Another Reddit rant on onion :onion: thieves

[!quote] Reddit @bronze_by_gold
The last THREE TIMES I’ve been to the Costco in Zhongli, I’ve seen people show up with plastic baggies and completely empty the chopped onion dispenser for the hot dogs.

Today was the worst example yet. There was a line of people waiting, and the person at the front was doing everything possible to squeeze out every last piece of onion. She was rattling the dispenser to shake loose the stuck bits and cranking the handle so aggressively that I thought she might break the machine. Meanwhile the people waiting (all clearly much more polite and patient than me!) just stood there watching while she made sure there would be nothing left for anyone else.

Since this is, let me repeat, the third time(!) I’ve seen something like this in the past few weeks, I finally had enough and I politely but firmly pointed out that other people were waiting and could she let those in line please have some onions too please? She did then reluctantly step back, but immediately went back to attempting to extract more “free” onions as soon as the line cleared out a bit.

What is it about Costco that seems to bring out this kind of behavior in people?

I’ve spent enough time in Taiwan to know that most people here are considerate and respectful in public spaces. I almost never run into hostility or rude behavior in daily life. Yet somehow several of my most unpleasant experiences have happened at Costco, where people suddenly seem to forget basic social responsibility.

I don’t think he “spend enough time in Taiwan”

What would you guys say is a good thing to eat or get from Costco?

Personally I like their Laksa, the taste is good and can be made larger by adding things to one’s liking into it
