A lot of their items are changing. For example, their scotches and bourbons are constantly in flux. I would say a good 50% of their scotches are done like this: they buy a large quantity of a certain brand, distribute it worldwide, sell until all gone, and then maybe or maybe not make another purchase in a few months.
That does make sense. It was weird before I couldnât search for their products I saw in store but werenât available online. Temporary stock, like seasonal fruit would make sense. But things with long shelf lives I hoped would be stable. I notice the cheese more because thatâs basically all i buy there. In store their selection has gone way down as well (kaohsiung) over the years. Canât get a real sharp cheddar to save my life now haha. Maybe Iâm just being bitter. Their big blocks of Tillamook was decent enough.
Havenât looked at their alcohol outside of big pure bottles of vodka for fruit experiments haha. Next time will check out the whiskey.
Youâre right I did say itâŚthanks for the commentary hahaha
And not all Costcoâs have the same inventory. Nor do Carrefour or PX Mart, for the record. Each store may or may not have what youâre looking for.
As a matter of fact, the Costco app mostly wonât allow for fresh stuff like cheese or meat to be ordered. It tells you check inventory with your nearest/local store.
Which makes me curious to see the availability in Uber. Which BTW has generated a backlash from cardholders, who complain that they have paid for the Costco card in vain.
Thatâs Costcoâs business model for almost everything they sell. They buy vast quantities of item x and leverage the purchase to lower their purchase price, then pass some of the savings on to their members.
I think some furniture they sell will come in the manufacturerâs box (i.e., is drop shipped). Everything else Iâve ever had delivered from Costco comes in a Costco box.
Right now, in the US, Costco has a sale thatâs been going on almost all summer for two Roborock robot vacuums. Both are older models; one nevertheless has the highest customer rating on Costcoâs site.
Costcoâs problem is that Roborock (made in China) has approximately one billion UPCs and launches a new robot seemingly every week (they launched at least two the week of Amazonâs Prime Day earlier this month).
In this case I think Costco is dumping their inventory so they can restock with newer UPCs. Theyâve also branched out to two other Chinese manufacturers, Ecovac and Dreame, who are not as prolific.
Anyway, same with their Apple stuff. Fortunately Apple rarely releases new UPCs so Costco is always able to offer the latest and greatest.
This is probably my confusion. I dint normally call cheese âfreshâ. Like alcohol. Beer has a short expiry, whiskey keeps forever. That type of thing. Mozerella vs parmesan. Plus itâs their own brand not even necessarily other brands, so itâs less a buy and sell the lot type thing?
Taiwanese love čéŹ & čč so I bet this gross invention will take off like Elonâs Space Rocket and become a hit. In a weekâs time itâll all be sold out and the news will start covering this âamazing foodâ.
Thatâs rough. But blame Costco. Not Taiwan. Thatâs on them.
They did a good move attempting to get pork rice on the menu. Their American food is dog shit, I guess they finally got the memoâŚthen they tried this strawberry stepâŚdear lord. They need to look at other American brands and learn from their mistakes. There is a reason dominos/pizza Hut keeps making new specialsâŚno one likes them them!
Them not doing cheese pizza by the slice like the other (pretty shitty) flavors kind of says it all. Out of touch with reality.
Someone stamped that shit. Blame whatever moronic low level employee as you wish, it still passed through the higher ranges of corporate norms to become a thing. And that should always be remembered
Even the lowest of taiwanese people that people like to talk to down towards are going for CP value. Size vs price. That said, even Random street food far surpasses Costco cafeteria level food. By a lot. Like, a lot! Based on flavor and texture. Sure, it costs more and might be dirtier than mass factory style. Hahaha.
Costco cafeteria is comparable to how cheap tofu is in Taiwan. Mushy garbage that is cheap based on factory automation and/or scale. Even their pizza is no inedible. And I can stomach 50 Pizza. Sometimes companies just devolve rather than evolve. Is what it is.
Bleh. I prefer taiwanese food. Not American mush run through the gauntlet that is factory processing.
