Costco Thread 2026

Costco is raising membership fees.

Not much, but that is a bummer. I don’t like being so hyper aware of everything slowly getting more expensive.

Yeah. Though I think it’s been at the current level for at least 8 years (?) or so…

My membership expires in April/May, so it looks like I’ll get to be an early adopter.

If your membership expires in April, you can renew in March and pay the current rate.

Can you pay for the next 3 years in advance in March?

Yeah, I saw the confusingly written note at the bottom, but I don’t think it applies to me. My membership began in early May and normally gets renewed in April.

No, the rule only applies to memberships expiring in April.

10 years apparently, although the whole Black Card thing was an increase, even if voluntary. Does it still exist?

Not much for standard users and a single purchase can more than pay it back compared to regular stores.

They have started selling meatball pizza.

It’s basically combo but with meatballs.

I saw that the other day, but didn’t try it: I was worried it’d be the same meatballs as the calzone uses, which I found dire. But I hope there are positive reviews!

They’re definitely the same!

Don’t know if I got dodgy ones or not but I got the impression there were two different types of meatball, one that seemed to be beef and one with a distinctly porky flavor which could be unpleasant!

Went to ZhongHe Costco yesterday (for penance) and got a calzone, it was constructed notably differently from the ones they sell in XiZhi Costco! I also skipped the chance for the meatball pizza.

The LNY BS has struck Costco early and hard, think my next visit will be after the holiday! Had a few things to get and dreaded a weekend visit but Google maps seemed to show things tapering off in Costco XiZhi on Saturday night. Left it till 9pm to arrive, was a complete shitshow! Carparks were almost full, even the roof level in the rain! Inside was a joke, must be extended family day out, children running riot and old folks with canes and walkers blocking the aisles, people wandering around with empty carts, carts abandoned in the middle of the aisles. On a positive there were no queues to checkout as the vast majority of people were not buying anything, except for hot food, massive queue for that so went without!

Lesson learned - Don’t believe the bizzyness indicator on Google maps, look instead at the traffic in the area!

Ugh! Thanks for the warning @ SuperS54. Perfect timing as I just logged on specifically to see if anyone commented on Costco as I was thinking of making a run today. My regular is Zhonghe but I imagine it will be the same level of madness. I guess school is out so it’s something to do for families. I stick to weekdays only shopping there, having a teacher’s flexibility. Even then I always wonder why there are always so many people thinking don’t these people have to go to work? Since I was only going to supplement I think I will postpone it. Maybe the day after New Year’s day? I think their hours are the same as usual, closed New Year’s eve about 6:00 and closed New Year’s day with regular hours after that. Other than that maybe after the holidays as you say. Just the thought of Costco madness makes me shiver. :anxious_face_with_sweat:

Don’t think I’ve ever got to that location and seen it not busy! Condolences!

Has anyone seen this nut butter recently?

Especially in the Kaohsiung Costco. We went to the Neihu Costco last week and they didn’t have it. When we were here 2 years ago every Costco consistently stocked it. We will go check out the Xizhi Costco later. But in that we are moving to Kaohsiung in August, it would be great to know if anyone has seen it there as well.

Or, if anyone has any idea of peanut butter (or other nuts) without any additives that is available in Taiwan, that would be great.

(I just tried Peanut Butter & Co, and there added Palm Oil gave it a consistency (and taste) a little to similar to Skippy- gross)

Didn’t see this one, but I saw Skippy at the Neihu Costco.

Thanks, but Skippy is what I am trying to avoid.

Did anyone see frozen blueberries yet?

I didn’t see any at the Guandu Costco today. I did see frozen mixed berries–local, I think.

But the pita bread is back!
