JERUSALEM – Sporadic Palestinian protests, including a rock-throwing attack on a busload of Canadian tourists, broke out in Jerusalem and on the West Bank of the Jordan River yesterday against Israel’s construction of a ramp leading to a disputed holy site.
The demonstrations came the day after Israeli police raided a mosque compound, firing tear gas and stun grenades, in response to riots by Muslim worshippers. Protests have spread throughout the world as Muslim leaders accused Israel of trying to damage Islamic shrines.
Israel denies the repair work will come anywhere near the disputed holy site, known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount.
In Jerusalem, a few dozen Palestinian teenagers threw stones at Israeli security forces in and around the walled Old City, burning an Israeli flag at one point. At the Mount of Olives holy site, Palestinians pelted a Canadian tour bus but no one was injured.
‘QUITE DISTURBING’
“We were just driving and all of a sudden a bunch of kids started picking up rocks and whatever they could get their hands on and started throwing it at the bus,” said Dave Wood, one of the tourists.
“This is our first day in the Holy City and it was quite disturbing to say the least.”
You know this wouldn’t have happened if those Palestinians had known it was a Canadian bus, right? Where were your maple leaf flags, people?

My (female) cousin keeps talking about how she wants to do ESL in Saudi Arabia. Maybe this will wake her up.
What a lot of our fellow Canuckistanians dont realize is that there is no protection against Islamic fascism other than killing the enemy. The war is not vs. the USA, it is vs. western civilization.

If any of those idiots on the bus brought their children to that environment they are guilty of child abuse.
No intervention or other persuasion should be necessary - the Saudis are quite opposed to granting visas to unattached single females, so unless your cousin plans to go as the wife of a Saudi or someone else working in Saudi, there’s basically no chance she’ll get into the country. They prefer to give the ESL jobs to female Saudis or wives of expats who are already present.

They could have put up an Irish flag and written “We are the Irish rugby team” and all that would have happened is that the Pelestinians would have laughed their arses off.
I agree, everybody on that bus deserves a Darwin award. I picture them all, wearing maple leaf shirts and maple leaf pins, wondering why they are getting pelted with rocks.
They probably held up their maple leaf flags against the Palestinians like an old lady would hold up a crucifix against some intruder with a gun.
I’m glad they got out alive, but I hope they learned their lesson.

I have to ask, were these ‘canadians’ actually wearing their flags? Not that it matters. My only logical question would be: Was the bus load of Canadians, Jewish? Cause it wouldn’t have mattered if they were Canadian, American, European or Croatian. If they’re a Jew then the Palestinians hate them. Which is unfortunate that they both hate each other.

Right. Because it’s not as if the Arab Christians in Israel and the Palestinian territories have been the subject of constant harassment and attack since the second intifada to now, right? There have been no razings or burnings of Arab Christian shops and homes, right? It’s not as if Muslim militants have invaded multiple Arab Christian towns like Beit Jala and have been quartering themselves in Christian homes and churches, and firing at Israeli soldiers and civilians from those same homes and churches, right? There have been no assaults or sexual assaults on Christian girls walking home from school, battering of priests, and descration of Christian holy sites, right?

Over my dead body will she come here and get into trouble. No way. I’d rather see her in some country with less of an expat drug problem, like Singapore.
Singapore has a much smaller population than Taiwan, but I would guess that the percentage of foreigners doing drugs would be similar. There was a high profile drug bust involving some foreigners a few months ago including the then editor of the Singapore Tattler, an expat Yuppie magazine.
The Paleostinians have issues with diversity. Since Canada has such a successful record in this regard, I think Canada should send advisors to aid them in entering the Second Millenium.

I’ve tried to show her articles about Islamic hardliners beheading buddhist schoolgirls in Thailand, but no avail.
