Credit Cards for Foreigners - General Discussion

it’s not the airlines paying for the rewards, it’s the issuer paying the airlines to get miles to distribute to cardholder as rewards as retention/acquisition tactic.

yep, that’s the game.

just spend what you can afford to, I spend still rather conservatively, never do debit, always pay off in full. Basically a deferred debit card.

nah, we issuers earn on interchange, not on interest on unpaid bills. that’s actually bad since risky, we just want cardholders to spend and then give us back money immediately, we earn on volume.

I do fly often, but no way near actual business travellers, 99% of my travel is non-business related. So yeah, I get miles also from flying, but way less than miles from spending with cards.

All of my clients fap over Qantas cos they get points on their employers dime

got down quite bad in service though recently. It used to be very good.

They’re Australia’s biggest rip off!

Quantas never crash…

You could use internet search engine to find out how to spell QANTAS

You do know what those letters stand for yes?

Something about the territories/states I remember

You never watch Rain Man? That’s a line in the movie.

Do I need to watch a movie to know how to spell an airline name?

You do know what states and territory in Australia the name comes from then?

I think it’s safe to say he might not. I didn’t know the origin either, though I knew how to spell the airline name of course.

But if we’re going to pick people up on typos, here’s one more relevant to banking that I’d just like to take the opportunity to get off my chest:

It’s ā€œRichartā€. :upside_down_face:

Yup on desktop no autospell as with phone. I never did open an account with them in the end. I don’t need so many accounts as I am a pauper.

Just ask nicely? Or buy an upgrade with airline points?

I was on waitlist for the mile upgrade.

I’m new to the card game and not a frequent flyer. I know I could accumulate points and pay for flights and upgrades with points. I wonder what other ways are there? Those long flights in a cramped space get uncomfortable after a few hours.

Well, that’s the point of business class haha.

I take short flights in economy. I build up miles on my China Trust China Airlines co branded card. I mostly fly China Airlines but my next trip Philippines Airlines to Bohol. I still get miles for the purchase. In a few years I will be flying every 5 weeks in and out of Australia. So building up those miles to get Premium Economy or business class flights.
