Hello everyone,

I’m currently planning my move to Taiwan, and I’m looking for clarification.
I’m planning to get a job as a TEFL teacher (how original, I know :stuck_out_tongue: ).
I read they need a criminal background check.
The thing is, I have dual-citizenship from France and Canada, and I’ve lived in France most of my life.
So my question is: does the Taiwanese administration want a criminal record from the country of birth or from the country of residence ?

From the country of the passport you will use to enter Taiwan, and from the country where you have residency now, if it is different from the country of your passport. Maybe.

You could ask to Workforce Development Agency of Ministry of Labor, where requests your criminal background check for your work permit.

Hi there! I have direct experience with this.

I’m an Italian Canadian. My ARC uses my Italian passport. I primarily lived in Canada. I gave them the Canadian criminal record check and a copy of my Canadian passport.
