Cyclist gang-raped in India

Here comes the “what abouts” trying to make it sound like the same or similar happens in the west and this is somehow not a systemic problem at all among the Indian community…

For me it’s a travel warning to women, lots of men here think it’s ok to hide this, not sure why?

It happens because a lot of people on the left live in a safe bubble. They’ve never had to deal with real-world consequences, so they minimise risks and dismiss warnings as “overblown” instead of listening to women who are flagging genuine concerns.

On top of that, you often see expat communities rushing to protect their own when serious allegations arise. We’ve seen this in the US with GoFundMe campaigns and petitions supporting Indian truck drivers charged with reckless driving that killed others, even though the drivers were in the country illegally. The Indian expat community instinct isn’t to wait for accountability, it’s immediate denial and defence.

I call bullshit

Anyone in the right mind should know traveling to India alone as a women is not advisable.

But I have also met women who travelled alone there and had a great time but they researched and knew what places to avoid and all the dos and don’t about traveling there.

India is that kinda place. Either u gonna have a very awesome time there or just an awful one. There is no middle ground there
