Lovely! Thanks for the tute.
Ok, that’s a lot harder than it looks. Fifty shots later, and I don’t have any usable smoke images.
Finally got through my Hualien shots, not much there as the weather was just good for short time…here there a few to start with:
On Qixianghu, the long beach right before you reach Hualien City from the north…

Temple roof in the evening, south of Hualien City…

On a temple roof, scared fish and dragon…

And finally got a shot of a real water buffalo here in Taiwan, not that many around any more, at least where I am around…

An ostrich just around the corner from the buffalo…

And these two fellas were lowing over me right after the ostrich shot, had not much time, with the 70-200mm…

Sedona, AZ. From my trip home for Christmas

Dihua St market, Taipei.
One of my first shots with the Canon 5D mark II.

Ah, I remember going there for a photoshoot during my first Chinese New Year in Taiwan. Fantastic place for shots. I hope you have a series.
I’ve got a few more shots but not too many - it was very, very crowded so got bumped quite a lot while trying to shoot.
Oooooh… You bought a 5DMkII CFI, or are you just test shooting one?.. NT$79k seems to be the going price online, which to me in the cold light of day is too much to justify spending on a camera, plus if I got one I’d have no more excuses for my crappy photography skills… If you did take the plunge, then congratulations!.. I see Canon’s even fixed the much maligned black dot issue… ![]()
Bought one - got a couple of unexpected photo sales over Xmas/New Year that paid for most of it. It was $79,900. The guy in the store was saying that Taiwan has the lowest prices on them in Asia and a lot are being sold here to dealers from HK who are then reselling them on the grey market in HK.
Yeah, that’s the problem I found. I was also dead scared of my camera being nicked (these days it’s strapped securely to my wrist). But it was mainly the crowding which was the problem (held my camera hopefully above my head for a few shots, but the results were decidedly suboptimal).
Here’s a couple more.

Those who like ridiculous amounts of detail can go here.
Some more tryouts fromt the Hualien trip. It’s kind of strange, I think I can’t really shoot when traveling with family, either they get bored about me or the other way around, so I just shoot a bit around without the usuall effort, trying on new things, etc…
You still run into funny or interesting stuff sometimes…

Finally made it to Brighton By The Sea and not even had to go to Engerland…

Just liked the waves over there too…

Besides that I tried a couple of “senseless things”. I took the 70-200mm f2.8, no tripod as usuall, and went into the show with the sirenias? and the aquarium part of the ocean park and took a couple of high ISO handheld shots. Sorry for the noise, still like them somehow…

Freakin’ incredible.
First and third, really lovely!
Thanks, I really like your deailed one, the linked one.

I’m surprised you were game to wait for it to load. It’s a very large file. The original is even larger (around 12,000 pixels wide for a start).
Strange, didn’t took that long to load, maybe I did other stuff mean while.
Here some more shots from the Hualien trip, just a couple of animals on a clouded and rainy day, so sorry, no “magic light” this time…

I thought it was awesome, also. Even the soft hairs are visible. :bravo:
