Hello 
A taiwanese friend told me there are different meanings in taiwanese for the english word “visit”.
For example: ‘I visited David in hospital. I send you many regards from him’ is in taiwanese different from
‘I visited David at his home. I send you many regards from him’
So visiting someone who is ill is another sign as the usual visit?
Could anyone help me along with this and show me the differences?

I can’t tell you about Taiwanese, but in Mandarin, the term 探病 (tanbing) means “to visit a patient in the hospital”. To visit someone at their home is “拜訪” (baifang), and to visit a factory or museum is 參觀 (canguan).

Just wanted to know in addition what 訪問 means ? MDBG.NET says it means “to visit/to call on/to Interview” . But i guess it means only “interverview”
So, what is in mandarin “I visited David in hospital! I send you his regards” ? 我 探病了大卫 … (???

someone fix me b/c its been a long time since i did any real chinese, but 訪問 seems similar to 採訪 to me…where the latter is like to interview (as a reporter interviewing people for news). it may simply be a more general version of interview…i would probably guess that the 問 suggests one is asking a question…so perhaps 訪問 is a very formal way to say to ask a question

But then I look it up in the dictionary, 字典就說: “訪問 - to visit”. 但是,有可能是正式的字, 因為. "訪問團"翻譯成 a visiting mission…
