Digital payments/Cashless payment methods in Taiwan

So frigging many pointless mobile wallets since every fucking merchant wants to pay less in acquiring fees. FFS, it would be so much smoother to have a widespread card acceptance and the usual Google/apple pay for a more seamless experience. U need to jostle among so many different wallets here, not convenient at all.

I’ve been pretty happy with JKOPay, especially with the 3% coins cashback after linking to my Richart account, although that’s ending at the end of this month. It works in convenience stores and Carrefour, and between that and credit cards I rarely need anything else.

I have Line Pay too, but I don’t think I’ve ever used it. And the PX Mart app, but I can never be bothered completing the setup so just use cash on the rare occasions I go there.

I basically use Jkou (linked to the HSBC diamond cashback card, which I can actually convert the cashback points to miles with a 3% cashback rate, 6% if I hold 300K+ in HSBC account), Line pay only when Jkou not accepted, but my go to is just cards (DBS flying world MasterCard). At Costco only the fubon Costco card, at PX mart I have to use the PX mart app linked to my Cathay United Eva card (although no miles accrued at PX mart…)

It’s how Apple can keep their prices down to give the consumer the best possible experience without breaking the bank. You didn’t know?

Richart gogo card gives 3.8% at PX mart but I think it is ending soon
