OK, time to give up and dispose of my remaining motorcycle junk.
I have 2 Yamaha RZR, one pretty much intact, one missing carb and front brake parts which were stolen. Neither of them has run for a couple of years.
These bikes are 133cc 2-strokes and were among the fastest small bikes available in Taiwan, but they are old, and spares are hard to find.
It would thus be a pity if they were melted for the metals if they could still be used for spares, and I do sometimes see functional examples riding around.
Anyone know of a potentially good home?
I also have the ratty old SYM Wolf 125 featured above which probably needs a new carburettor. Spares arent a problem for those yet AFAIK so it doesn’t so much matter if that is scrapped.
And a miscellaneous collection of odd parts, including a Kymco Zing engine.
I prefer dealing with computers, but if they are rare as you say they are, I am sure a motorcycle enthusiast, or mechanic would happily take them off your hands for even a token value. They will have to invest their time to get the value out of them, but I am sure you could probably easily sell what you have at a priced-to-sell price and you get a little bit of money out of it too instead of scrapping them.
Thats the idea, but I dont have the contacts, not being much of a biker. A few years ago I’m pretty sure there would have been interest. Not so sure now.
I mean, there are mechanics everywhere and there are likely going to be motorcycling groups online. Or just put it on Shopee/Ruten/8891 for a token amount.
Absolutely. Another option is finding the right parts either here, or overseas or online in western platforms that post to TW and putting it back together for higher value as well. The higher the perceived value, the less likely it will be that they get binned.
For example, you mentioned missing brakes. This is just an example listing I found for the RZR 250
If I had any resto know-how, god I’d love to take it off your hands. Maybe post in the foreigner oriented Taiwan motorcycle group on Facebook and look for a RZR group there?
Any idea why the one intact one isn’t running?
If they still are legally plated, that’s also something to note.
Come to think on’t I suppose if I’m disposing of them for parts I should cancel the registrations. They all still have papers, though they havnt passed inspection lately.
RE Any idea why the intact one isn’t running? its "intact " because AFAIK I’ve got all the bits, but I’ve stripped it down and only partly put it back together again, and TBH I’m no longer sure of how the carb hooks up. Could perhaps get it going but probably wont have time.
