Do any of your Facebook friends add hyphen and maiden name?
For example “Julie Smith-Jones”.
Of all my friends on Facebook, only certain people from a small area that is actually a bit isolated do add hyphen and maiden name. Most just select one or the other.
How common is it?
Not entirely uncommon.
I scrolled through a moment ago and most appear to be tied to ethnicity or they were married into their career.
I know quite a few women that do it only on FB, not in their regular lives. I assume it’s to be easier to find by old friends and classmates searching for them.
