The computer is always right. Go to jail.
Now this the sort of thing AI was invented for! More, please!
Should never give fireworks to robotic dogs. This is how it ends.

One of the biggest limitations for AI now is raw data so they are creating huge amounts of new fake data to make up the gap. Can’t make this stuff up.
It’s gonna really spice up the Yanshui fireworks festival, though.

Liang’s family home has become an unlikely pilgrimage site for those interested in seeing where this reluctant celebrity was raised. But while his neighbours praised his achievements, none could say much about the current life of the mysterious man who has sparked an existential panic in Silicon Valley. DeepSeek and Liang did not respond to a request for comment.
Liang’s silence is true to his character. “For those who know him well, he can talk a lot when it’s a topic of interest. You need to get used to his communication style. He’s not being rude when he’s suddenly quiet, which often happens. He’s thinking,” says another fund manager. “If he doesn’t want to talk to you, he’ll let you know.”
It’d be funny if Liang was another Satoshi Nakamoto, just a made-up figure.
The article quotes many people, but no names except:
But for residents of Mililing, he represents something more innocent: a hard-working student from a small farming community that made it big. “We all grew up in this village,” says Leon Liang, who used to play football with the younger Liang. “We’re very proud of him.”
If you want to be fully up to date on all angles of Deepseek and its current and future impacts, this long article is your bible (for now).
Who knows. It’s China. It has the ring of truth to me overall.
I presume you’ve seen reports on a recent study by Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University?
In the 2020s we’ve hit what seem for me to be new lows in human stupidity. Lower lows evidently lie ahead. ![]()

The author of this wry blog is something of a Silicon Valley snake oil sceptic, writing about failures in new AI based technology. Some recent articles that come to mind:
- Apple Intelligence wrongly summarising BBC news articles
- Yahoo mail AI mangling email subjects, telling people they have ‘been selected’, when they ‘had not been selected’
- Gemini caught confidently stating that Gouda accounts for ‘50 to 60 percent of the world’s cheese consumption’
I just got the Grok3 app. It’s pretty cool. More approachable in a human way than ChatGPT.
I was asking about lunar orbiting satellites and why one company wants to put data centers in lunar orbit.
So far, I like it.
I’m mean I’m also fucking terrified that people think we need that. How close ARE we to nuclear war? ![]()
It’s like earth’s black box recorder.
Great! Written in a sarcastic style that reminds me of Germany’s very own Fefe (fefes blog) or also UK’s the register.
AI is shit, even though it’s fascinating shit.
So many people believe that the problems inherent in the technology are simply small imperfections that will eventually get solved as AI matures.
Spoiler: it will most likely not. Generative AI as we know it is impossible to analyse or debug.
It’s great for entertainment and other purposes that don’t need correctness and accuracy. But people keep trying to use it in every possible scenario, many of which require much more than nice looking but chabuduo output.
Funny (?) side story: I recently met with an old friend that had until recently been working for a huge chip maker. His job had been to convince a big international computer maker of the advantages of local AI functions (the NPU in the CPU). According to him, even within that chip maker noone really had any compelling reasons for supporting local AI coprocessors…
It depends on what you are using it for I suppose. I’m satisfied with it.
14 year old boy falls in love with an AI chatbot. The bot encourages him to kill himself so they can be together.
This. I think this will get more obvious over time. AI art and videos are already looking cheap compared to when it was new.
Although the damage is done, real art has been irreversibly devalued imo.
