Hello. Does anyone here know anything about living in Shengang? I’ve been offered a job there at a buxiban. The pay looks decent and they will give me a place to live, but I’ve never been there. I know it’s a small town in Changhua County, between Changhua and Lugang. Has anyone been there? Any advice on what it’s like to live in a small Taiwanese town (I live in Taoyuan city right now)? Thanx!
Looking at the map, it apoears 30km to Taichung main station (due to river crossing), 19km to HSR station, and 12km to Lugang. A sleepy tiwn perhaps, but still close to the hustle ‘n bustle of central Taiwan and points (via HSR) elsewhere. Better pay and place to stay seems like bigger benefits to help in saving more money.
Saving money? You might not because you’ll be blowing it all on weekends to Taichung, as there’s f-all to do in small Taiwan towns. Prepare yourself for a year of social isolation and boredom, even if you speak fluent Chinese.
