Does anyone know the job situation in Tauoyan and Taipei?

Right now I live in taichung and I am finding it hard to find a teaching job because of the overwealming number foreigners here although I hear that if you wait until July it gets much easier to find a job because many people leave. In the mean time I am thinking about moving up north to Jongli (Tauyan County) or Taipei, could anyone give an idea of the teaching job situation out there ( i.e. how hard is it to find a job, average pay, etc.)? I’m trying to decide whether to tough it out here until July or just move up north if i can find a job earlier. Also, I happen to be asian and I have no prior teaching experience so I’m not sure how badly that affects my chances.

From my experience there are more job opportunities in Taipei. You might need a motorscooter to get around if your plan to get multiple positions. If you little experience you might find it easier to find position a smaller schools in the surburbs of Taipei city.

Being asian myself I did get a few cases of reverse discrimination because they don’t believe your English is of a native speaker.

But if you mandarin is flawless that is also a strike since they feel you would teach them in Chinese.

Jongli is currently overrun with teachers. Very hard to find kindergarten jobs if thats what you’re looking for…

Nothing in Kaohsiung either…can’t swing a dead cat without hitting an English teacher.
