Does incognito mode void cookies?

Pardon the probably very dumb question. Basically I dont press “accept” on anything online for security reasons. But loads of websites require an “ok/not ok” button click for cookies. so as a rule I only do that on a dedicated computer that doesnt touch work related stuff. But it is inconvenient.

So, can i go to say this website in incognito mode and not do this. As I type I am realizing how dumb this is because the site will still ask…but then cookies wont be stored…2 different problems… but I started to write this, so I will ask if there is a solution to such things

for example I read a lot on cabi, and usually onthe phone just read stuff with this banner in the middle. any way around it without clicking anything?

As far as I know, your cookies are deleted once you close your incognito browsing session. Not sure if that answers your question completely.

Cookies are stored until the session ends.

Cheers. Probably not, but worth an ask. Is there anyway to bypass these cookie screens that block the view of some websites? Without accepting things or clicking things that might give permissions.

It’s a bit complicated, one can press F12 and use the inspector to find the element they want to delete and delete it.

Ublock, the plugin, is probably the best as their element zapper is far easier to use.

It doesn’t work in incognito mode/private mode though.

No worries on private mode. I dont need to use it, I was just trying to avoid these banners that block view of the website until you accept whatever it is they want one to click. I am less worried about ads I guess.

You mentioned Ublock, this one?

Is it meanginglyful better/different than say firefox’s built in pop up blockers?

Ideally I am just trying to read things without accepting/giving permissions (on a legal basis). aid things go wrong, I can deny giving them access.

Well, of course you’re gonna get the banner in private mode because the cookie is not detected.

Yes

It’s not a popup blocker. Well… it has popup blocking functionality. But it is a useful tool for blocking neutral and bad elements of a site like trackers and bots, while also providing a tool that lets you zap things on the page.

It’s open source.

Ya, haha. my ignorance realized halfway through writing it down…cookies arent about banners popping up. I am for sure a dummy with this stuff. But trying to ask if there is a way of avoiding accepting these sorts of things so I can view the site. Or is it just a pointless quest?

Look. It’s a game of cat and mouse. What works today may not work tomorrow. So… All I can say is…

Your mileage may vary. :idunno:

The Brave browser recently added a feature to intercept those and respond with a decline automatically.

I’d say it works somewhat more than half the time?

I don’t think Chrome does void cookies. It may use any cookies you already have in your browsing history in Incognito Mode, but any new cookies won’t be recorded.

Do some research online, it’s open to debate.

It does not use existing cookies, nor does it save cookies generated in incognito mode. However, there’s a whole lot of ways to track people that don’t require actual cookies.

Cheers. I dont even necessarily have issues with cookies, just a button popping up requiring me to click to an unknown.destination. that is risky.

Yes, it would be easy(-ish) for a malicious ad to be crafted so as to appear like a cookie consent prompt.
