One of my friends is in UK now.
She works there.
She met an old lady one day on the street.
The old lady yelled at her:Yellow pig"

My friend is mad and told her:I work here.I pay the tax.I support myself.
It is much better than those lazy people. They do nothing just bullshit.
How do you think ?
Is there same thing happen to you in Taiwan or in other countries?

How about in Taiwan being called âBig Noseâ or other such nicetiesâŚâforeign devilâ perhaps?
My favorite, though, has to be when Taiwanese are in a foreign country and still call everyone who is not Taiwanese a âforeigner.â They seem to lack the basic understanding that it is them who are the foreigners in other places!!!
I find it very hard to believe that an old British woman actually yelled at your friend and called her a âyellow pig.â That sounds like more of a Taiwanese-style slander than a British one.
And contrary to popular Taiwanese belief, all âforeignersâ are not lazy and all Taiwanese are not hard workers. :loco: And Taiwanese are the biggest bullshitters I have ever met by far!!!

Wow. Indiana. âTaiwanese are the biggest bullshitters I have ever met by farâ? Thatâs fairly sweeping, wouldnât you say?
Anyway, I donât find it hard to believe that an old woman in the UK might have said that. There are racists everywhere, unfortunately. What she said was totally wrong, douseeme, and I hope your friend realises that not all Brits are like that.

aw, lighten up. i put a smiley after i said that!!!
"I find it very hard to believe that an old British woman actually yelled at your friend and called her a âyellow pig.â That sounds like more of a Taiwanese-style slander than a British one. "
But it is true that old woman said so.
And I would take that as a joke "And Taiwanese are the biggest bullshitters I have ever met by far!!! "

âWhat she said was totally wrong, douseeme, and I hope your friend realises that not all Brits are like that.â
No.we wonât.
At least ,I have a friend who is English .
He is the best one I met.

My bullshitometer is calling this one⌠yellow pig?! While England has more than its fair share of rabid NF nutcases and casual racists, I find it hard to believe that anyone would use the words âyellow pigâ, nor shout something like this at random to her face. There are so many east Asians living in England that I donât think anyone who did so would last very long. I can recount many a horrible tale of British racism but it was mainly directed towards muslims and Indians and I just donât believe that this particular event really happened.
I know a few mainland Chinese in the UK who have had eggs thrown at them but I had to point out that Iâm white as they come and Iâve had eggs thrown at me too. England is just a shit place to live generally, especially in the poorer urban areas. I suggest she moves somewhere safer like Iraq or Beirut.

I agree, llaryâŚit sounds very Taiwanese to meâŚa racist slur shouted by a Brit would be very different from âyellow pig,â thatâs for sure!!
:bravo:
Taiwanese seem to want to believe that asians are oppressed and vilified in the West, and worse off than blacks and arabs (they insist on this point for some reason) when in fact precisely the opposite is true.
âYellow pigâ makes no sense. Really bad English.
Yes, Iâve had stuff shouted at me in Taiwan. I just ask them why they said it and they usually get embarrassed and apologize.
Other countries? Thailand, never. French people were condescending and impatient with my poor French but not racist towards me. Other countries, Iâve only visited for a short time and didnât really know the language.
Thinking about it, Iâm guessing that the old woman was probably a Chechen or a Kurd or a Romanian or an Iraqi or any of the other thousands and thousands of immigrants or refugees who are quickly taking over there. NO-ONE, but NO-ONE in Britain would use a slur like âyellow pig.â
Either that or your friend was talking shite.
Has it ever happened to me in Taiwan? HA!!! My (ex) local gf said all foreigners were un-evolved monkeys because we have arm and leg hair. I wonât even go into how monstrous my nose is viewed here or the endless running fucking commentary from the tits who live in my building from how I hang my laundry to how weird I am for not wanting to eat mushy bamboo shoots on rice EVERY BLOODY DAY.
An Asian getting a racial slur in England thrown at them is probably 1/16 of the rate we get shit on here.
I wouldnât say that. Iâm sure Asians get racial slurs all the time in the UK, and Iâm sure they get their share of idiots without brains making insensitive remarks. But âyellow pigâ seems like such an odd thing to say. If it was âlazy, f**king immigrantâ or something like that, it wouldnât seem odd.
The one thing I think we expats in Taiwan get more of is unintentional, mindless stuff from the average person who just has no concept of any culture but their own. Instead, they get well-meaning people who are trying to be culturally aware, but donât do that hot of a job of it.
I knowwwwâŚit must have been Elton John!
A different storyâŚhow many Taiwanese youngsters do you see riding around with Nazi signs on their scooters? (yes I know the difference between Nazi and Buddhist sign)
I know they think itâs a punk thingâŚbut do they have ANY idea that they are screaming âyellow pigâ at themselves?!
I find it amusing.
I get called âadogahâ here on occasion. I hear it more often outside Taipei City.
I was talking with my Taiwanese wife on the street below some apartments when a big gob of spit landed an inch away from my toe. It wasnât morning, so Iâm pretty damn sure someone was intentionally trying to spit on us.
Iâve been called many things all over the world, even in other Western countries by fellow Caucasians.
On this very site Iâve read how terrible a sin it is and how racist and ignorant you have to be to use the âNâ word. In fact I believe an entire thread was dedicated to it not so long ago. Then in another thread I had to sit seething quietly in front of the PC while a Caucasian fellow was called âa crackerâ.
Ignorance manifests itself everywhere. Even among the educated. Itâs gf is called Racism, and the two of them will never die. They have always been here, and always will be.

Crackers are from Georgia. Therefore, anyone who calls a non-Georgian southerner a cracker is using that ethnic slur incorrectly.
The correct term, I believe, is âhonkyâ.
I think that if a woman shouted âyellow pigâ at your friend she just did not know it was a racial slur, just like all the local people here who donât know that âbig noseâ is a racial slur.
