Famous lucky YouTuber Ray Asian Boy from Taiwan is well known to escape his 1 year mandatory military service by getting a US visa then moving to US ASAP. He also said Taiwanese sucks and the people are like NPCs in a recent podcast show by Logan Paul. What do Taiwanese people think of all these? Other locals and guys from the states get bashful comments if found out that they want to avoid or skip or postpone their service
Yes, but he is representing all of Taiwanese now, as the youth of the world watch him. He also has a million subscribers on YouTube, and in the last few months he was getting 100k subs monthly. He is basically making money in the bag these days
To answer the question: depends on his guanxi and $$$ but when he comes back - they all do- there will be a brief bruhaha on the news, followed by his claiming a medical condition precluded him from doing the military service. He may or may not be forced into it…then land a plush “alternative service” four month stunt and that’ll be it. As per past cases.
However, it worries me to see how many bold “Taiwanese” influencers are doing China’s bid by undermining Taiwan on the interwebs and abroad. Case in point, Holger Chen, who, after coming back from his China “fact finding trip” now scolds locals for not accepting the “we are Chinese” narrative.
I don’t think whatever he says is going to turn Taiwanese against him as he has a rapper image or whatever. So what if he talks some shit against Taiwan, he is also living overseas so it makes sense.
If he ever came back he would be worshipped.
We have seen worse, we saw a spoilt brat Taiwanese get deported for planning a school shooting them get worshipped and become a minor celebrity.
Taiwan has a problem of worshipping anyone with even a little fame, (or anything korean, such as judy dragon) and not questioning it.
