When i lived in Taipei, you had to buy trash bags for your trash. What’s the story in taichung

I haven’t been able find out from the Taichung government website --I get a pretty good number of redirects and 404s–but they seem to have implemented the special-bag-purchase-thing it in the past, but then maybe there was some kind of controversy about it(?), so now–I don’t know.

The bags in the pictures (which I guess were taken in Taichung) on the page linked below don’t look anything like the kind we have to purchase in New Taipei City, but again, I can’t be sure:

The page linked above seems to indicate (I say seems because I don’t know Chinese) that Taichung does require separation.

Had no idea. I’m guessing my building management handles that as i’ve never bought it…hopefully or else they probably hate me lol.

Your building probably hires a private company to deal with it.

Our building management handles the trash too but you need to buy the official bags and throw them in the communal bin/container.
