 have a nice day~

you’re aiming at a 100% foreign customer base right?

last time i checked,Taiwan was the land where peoples really don’t give a flying fcuk about animals,as many threads on this forums will attest

Taiwan is a land where many people don’t give a flying fuck about animals, you’re quite right. But the fact that there are so many of these “doggy hotel/spa/grooming” centers here should open your eyes to the fact that there are many who love their little mei-meis and foo-foos.
Don’t forget the other great stereotype about the Taiwanese – they’re good businessmen.

I just called to ask and the lady who answered said you won’t board pigs. Why not? Behaviourally speaking, they are easier to tend to than dogs. They even like to play with dogs.

I know many terrible people in Taiwan treat animals like shit. Very sad and I feel helpless too. But I still want to do something. I’m running a dog hotel; no puppy for sale in my shop, and we have special price for the adopted dogs (from the street or from any kind of association)

I can’t express how much I admire what Sean and AnimalsTaiwan are doing for Taiwan. When my financial situation get better, it would be an honor to provide more practical support to AnimalsTaiwan and so many other animal associations in Taiwan.

I still can see the warm part of Taiwan people. They treat their pets like their own kids. They brought them to my shop for boarding, not only expensive pure breed dogs and also many cute lovely mix. Most of dogs ever been on the street are not easy to get along with strangers and other dogs, but I feel soooooooo good when they finally opened their heart and trusted me and even started to play with other dogs. That truly become the happiest part of my every hard-working day.

Hi Yoman Prince, Sorry for my English! I thought we were talking about a “cat”. At present, my shop has doggie service only due to the limited space. As to a little pig, I’d love to give it a try. They usually get along with dogs well. Please give me a call or email me. Thanks!

ok dognus, I will give you a call again.

Since I became a pig owner, I have found that pigs are very misunderstood animals. They are smart, well behaved and very, very loveable, but still have a mind of their own. But most people’s thoughts about pigs as pets range from thinking it is a ludicriously silly to just plain dumb idea. In my life I have had for pets: a bird, fish, turtles, a cat and a dog. I still think pigs make the best pets. They are the fifth smartest animal! That little rant explains my last post. Thanks again for being open to the idea of boarding a pig. I will definitely be calling you.

Pigs are wonderful animals and great pets, and they make great breakfast meats as well.

And because they make great breakfast meats, I would be very careful about letting a small pig loose with dogs. There is a lovely silly pig in the lane next to ours and we see the piggy nearly every day. She was wearing a T-shirt yesterday!

Anyway, the owner of the little pig lets it run free through our neighborhood… and so far its been OK. But, when walking my dogs, on a leash, they are VERY interested in that little pig… and I don’t think the interest is in making a new friend. More like big bad wolves and the one little pig.

Dogs are hunters by nature. People still use pit bulls to hunt wild pigs. When my boys see that nice little pig in the lane, they tug and pull at the leash and want very much to get at that little pig.

I’d be very cautious. That’s all I’m saying.

That’s exactly what I’ve read, too. If you keep a pig with a dog, they’ll co-exist happily for a while, but there will come a time when the dog will kill the pig. Or so I’ve read.
I have to say I really like the pigs I’ve met.

[url=http://www.pigs4ever.com/PotBelliedPigInfo/children_otherpets.htm]Pigs and dogs can get along, but for the pigs sake they should NEVER be left alone together. They should always be supervised. Now why do we say this?

Dogs are predators by nature and pigs are prey. If something upsets the dog, and it is the pig, it is natural for the dog to attack. And normally it is the pig that startds things, but the dog will finish it.

They should NEVER be fed close to each other. If you are not going to be around, make sure you have your dog and pig separated.

NEVER LEAVE THEM ALONE TOGETHER!

Dogs and pigs should NEVER be unsupervised or left alone together. Again, it is the law of nature… dogs are predators and pigs are prey. While some dogs do well when pigs are young there comes a time when the dog has something the pig wants (like food) and pig will not back off like another dog. Then there is a problem.

While some dogs tolerate the pig they also get their blood in an uproar when or if that piglet starts screaming. Even the best natured dog can lose it with a pig. Not that the pig doesn’t ask for it because they won’t back off but that’s of no help to the pig when the dog decides he has had enough.

Almost every week there are E-mail’s of a dog somewhere who has killed or hurt a pig. Many times it is a dog and pig that have lived together for years. But, something happens and the pig pays the price.

Those of you that have dogs, please NEVER leave them alone with the pigs. Even the most well behaved dog can blow his cool and the pig WILL pay the price.

Then there are dogs that will run a fence with the pigs on the other side and literally run the piglets to death. That pig scream is an open invitation to a dog. There are people that have lucked out but the luck may not be everyone’s and again its not worth the risk. Anytime you put two species together with one being predator and one being prey you can have problems.

You are right- pigs and dogs shouldn’t be left alone. Pigs are always interested in food, especially if it is someone else’s. Usually, they steal the food and then dog gets pissed and pig squeals and… They will play together nicely, sometimes for years, but they shouldn’t be left alone together. By they way, that link you provided is to a really good pig site. Phyllis (the pig site lady) is a mine of information about pet pigs.

We keep pigs and dogs separate for the reasons mentioned above.

I think it is worthy to note that pigs and dogs are ok together if they are supervised. Even Phyllis at the pig site talks about how they can play together but they shouldn’t be left alone is all. I am saying this because they can be good company for each other, better than pigs and cats. Maybe when my pig is older and more sedentary I might change my mind, but my pig and cat hated each other and my pig does like dogs. They suit her personality much more- they run and smell stuff together. I don’t stress out when there are dogs around my pig and I am around.

I am sure it also depends on the size and temperament of the dog (but not temperament alone, as it only takes one aggressive act of food guarding …).

That’s absolutely correct.

I wouldn’t trust some dogs around other animals, period, even if I was supervising. Dogs with a strong prey instinct, such as pit bulls (but this is not limited to pits) may be apparently fine with another animal, even another dog, and then suddenly have a go at the other animal or dog. And if that happens with a strong and determined dog, the other animal will, IMO, be needlessly injured, perhaps badly.

I indicated in one of my above posts that people still use pit bulls to hunt wild pigs. The fact is, these dogs do not track and then corner the pigs until the human hunter arrives… instead they attack the animal and kill it for the human hunter.

I think many people fail to really understand and or appreciate the nature of some dogs when it comes to the prey instinct.

Note: bobepine… perhaps some of these posts can be split as they detract from the OP’s thread?

I separate everybody while eating. Food and girlfriend are the top two reasons of fighting… Any accident is unbearable to me and pet owners. Honestly, I’m afriad of little pigs will become dogs’ snack. I have no experience of raising a pig. Thanks everyone for the comments. I won’t let them being together when I’m not around.

I would have to agree with what was said above, about it depending on both animal’s temperment and sometimes training. I was thinking about why I don’t mind my pig playing with dogs. I think it is because she doesn’t squeal anymore (she actually barks when she is angry.) And because I think it would be good for her to play with other animals more. She has a lot of energy and I try to play with her but can’t really join her in the Running-from-one-end-of-the-room-to-another-and-sniffing-at-everything game. But I see that dogs can.

More importantly, I am glad to see people aware of the pig/ dog dynamic. Even looking at pig sellers and pig information sites on the internet, it is scary how many people refuse to believe that little Rex might turn on little Porker.

Are you sure that’s the right web site address?

I have used dognus many Times. Our beast has been going since she was a little puppy and she always comes back in good spirits. The owner gets to know your individual dog and cares for them as her own. It is the only place we take our dog!! Gertie says hello!!!
