Drinking friends unite!

I’ve been living in Kaohsiung for several years and need some drinking buddies. I’m from America and currently living in Lingya District. Any takers?

So what do you want to drink?

Wow, you must be really sheltered if you can’t find alcoholic expats to hang out with in Asia!

The harlot spoke to Enkidu, saying:
“Eat the food, Enkidu, it is the way one lives.
Drink the beer, as is the custom of the land.”
Enkidu ate the food until he was sated,
he drank the beer-seven jugs!-- and became expansive and sang with joy!
He was elated and his face glowed.
He splashed his shaggy body with water,
and rubbed himself with oil, and turned into a human.

The guy in the “Neighbor with possible mental health problems” thread sounds like he could be a promising drinking companion. I’m usually in Kaohsiung once a month and have nothing to do. Where do the expats go in the Year of Our Republic 115? I feel like I’m too old for Cijin, and I hate the food at the Lighthouse for the $$$ they charge.

Check out The Bottle Room 瓶屋, newly opened spot with a really cool boss.

As for classic expat dives: 老屁股音樂屋 Old Fart D.J. Bar, 黑狗酒吧, Fusion Bar music & drinks, and of course Brickyard 紅磚地窖.

aye that’s mee, i’m a woman though, unless you’re referring to my actual neighbor haha.

OP (or anyone) if you’re still looking, im always down to drink! my neighbor is still giving me issues that i’d like to blab about to people

Well I may be up for a drink as well, wish there was a proper bar street or drinking area in Kaohsiung. I won’t go to Cijin beach bar because it’s such a hassle to get to.

What happened to Wufu Lu?

On and around HaiBian Lu there are a ton of bars, more local than expat spots but i enjoy a good bar crawl around there

Which part wufu road? Lingya, Qianjin or Yancheng?

Wufu Lu 4th used to be the heart of the bar district, lined end to end with drinking establishments.

Plenty of bars when I walked around there last weekend.

Many bars are still there… but it is the tinder effect.

Yes there’s some bars on wufu lu, most seem to have been there forever and have few patrons. I think bottoms up is relatively popular, relative being the word.

Nightlife is not Kaohsiung or Taiwan’s strongest point.

Anyway I’m up for a beer if we get a drinking crew together.

A dinner and drinks meetup might be more interesting.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m skipping my usual visit to Kaohsiung next month, but I want to check out one or two of these places in December.

I meant your neighbor! The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced I knew the same guy when I lived in Kaohsiung.

ahh okay. Also, turns out he’s not bald, so it may be a different guy. unless he grew his hair out…Either way i think i deserve a drink myself because of him
