Drunk driving on a 'slow' vehicle

"The amendments stipulate penalties for slow vehicle operators, including bicycles, electric bicycles and tricycles.

One slow vehicle operator had a blood alcohol level in excess of the legal limit and and five others refused to take a breath test, the agency said.

Slow vehicle operators would be fined NT$600 to NT$1,200 for drunk driving and NT$2,400 for refusing to undertake a breath alcohol test, it said."

So be careful if you ride your bicycle, horse or scoot!

TT

It seems unicycles are not covered?

What if you drive fast on a slow vehicle?

What if you drive slow in a fast vehicle?

357 caught over the limit on a Monday night! Shudder to think how many are driving/riding around over the limit on the weekend when there is no special crackdown.

How many wheels?

How come refusing to take the test has double the punishment?

I have been accused of that before …by Race spectators :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

is really that cheap to drive drunk??? wtf

if you mean NT$600 to NT$1,200 is cheap, it is for bicycles etc.

NT$15k to NT$120k for cars and bikes may be still cheap, though.

If cars or bikes drivers refuse the test, the fine is NT$180k. NT$360k for the second time.

Thanks!

I heard something more like 80-100k

that is a previous regulation.

I’ve been wondering, if I ride a horse and that horse was drunk… does that count as DUI?

I’m riding my bike around the beautiful small lanes of Tainan tonight.

Lots of small hidden pubs.

Thinking I better not stop and have drinks along the way knowing that Taiwan even gives 5-year olds on bikes breathalyzer tests :astonished:
