Mine wants me to quit my job.
I don’t think it’s the only brain out there that wants that for you.
I’m doing okay this time around. I think because that next day feeling of depression scared me. The first time I took a few weeks off (that was last year), I thought about drinking every day and complained all the time. And after my goal of 40 days was reached, I got a good bottle to celebrate the very next day.
This time around is so different. My wife still drinks a few days every week. She has 2-3 glasses very slowly. I even take a whiff and often ask why she picked such a bad scotch (artificial color, exactly 40% abv, chill filtered- she really doesn’t know what she’s doing). But there’s very little desire to for me to drink.
Good. If she had something nice, it might be tempting to have a nip just to taste it… And if it is good, tempting to have a second nip. If she has something nasty, no temptation!
Have a big meal, I don’t feel like drinking if I’m full. Another option have a pint of fizzy lager (Carlsberg) with your dinner, drink rapidly and feel really bloated and sick for rest of the night
Should put you off drinking for a while.
I’m going to make it to 31 days then for all of February. I’m so sure about this that I even offered to go to the liquor store with her next time because it’s really bothering me the stuff she’s getting. She has a decent bottle now, but for that price, she could’ve had something so much better.
Now after I reach the end of February, I need to be very careful if no booze is what I decide to continue. I think I’ll start thinking then that a drink every once in a while wouldn’t hurt.
Day 31 for me! I made it for my dry month. I will continue through to at least the end of February.
Sleeping better, longer. My workouts are getting better. I hit a new pr on my hike just a few days ago. I will now work on a swim goal I have. My mind is also clearer.
My mind is also clearer.
Yeah, that’s a big one for me as well. I feel the mind and the body are in the same pants.
VERY stressful week at work, and once, just once, I felt like I could use a nice beer to wash down the dust of the day. But, nope, I was really just exhausted and went to bed early. Kept to the goal of being the very best dry guy around.

I’m still going strong. I even bought a bottle of scotch for my wife. Got it four days ago and it’s still more than half full. It would have been long gone if I was still drinking, especially since it’s one of my favorites (Bowmore 15).

Er… Well done? xD
I’m not missing much drinking alcohol. I really have bigger problems to deal with, and I would have a harder time removing coffee from my daily routine.
Did I say I have other things to worry about?
Did I say I have other things to worry about?
You did!
yeah, but I also have other problems to worry about.
We all do. Cutting out the booze doesn’t make them vanish as much as it brings more clarity.
Feel free to vent. That’s part of what the thread is aboot.
Haven’t had a report from @superking in a while. Hope you’re still on track!
Funny. The other day I met some friend who told me he too was doing a dry February. Reason for doing it this and not another month? it’s only 28 days haha.

I’m afraid my venting would blow everybody’s displays and maybe computers as well.
