Here we go again, BBC is gone from our airways (channel 113)–I checked as I called my operator. It is available on Satellite and Digital links. Now, I am limited to CNN “American news” for my news addiction.
Great, this means I will miss out on the rest of World’s news and a balanced ‘non-American’ centered perspective.
Or would a petition-drive or a talk with Ma Ying Jyou help–seeing that he wants Taipei to be a worldclass city!? Any suggestions anyone!
Hmmm, that satellite subscription looks quite attractive now…

Well now with Satellite TV you can have BBC, Sky News London as well as my new favourite … The best new English News channel around
Get FOX NEWSand see whats really happening in the world.
Oh…and BBC Wanker World Report is still on channel 116 here in the kingdom of Tainan. Showing the marches in Red Square with a cadaverous female creature mourning the downfall of the Soviet Union as I type.
The cable companies are trying to get you to pay an extra NT$200? I can’t remember how much, i think it was super cheap for several English channels. Pretty smart if you ask me. I think next maybe they will take away CNN. Luckily, Discovery, Nat. Geo., Travel and Living, AXN among others have Chinese subtitles. BBC on the otherhand is too boring for Taiwanese to watch and they want to learn American English anyway, so they only need one channel without Chinese subtitles on cable TV and that is CNN.
Just cough up the NT$200 extra per month for digital cable and you will get back BBC, or get Satellite TV and get all of the news channels you want including DW, TV5, BBC, FOX, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN and ChannelNewsAsia. taiwansatellite.tv
With that said, I totally agree with you, it sucks that BBC has disappeared from CATV!
