Hi,

I wish to run a website that offers online services to Taiwanese, using .com.tw domain and accepts payments online in $TW. I also plan to run some print advertising in local Taiwanese papers, my questions are;

  1. If I live in Australia, do I need to have a business entity in Taiwan to run the website?

  2. What .tw domain registration companies do people recommend?

  3. What banks do you recommend that offer merchant accounts?

  4. What payment gateway companies do you recommend to process credit cards online?

In Australia, I have to have a trading name ($120/2yrs), I use an Aussie bank (Westpac) for my merchant account and www.eway.com.au as my payment gateway.

Alternatively I’m wondering if I need a physical presence at all? Maybe just use my Australian company and register a .tw domain with that?

Not anymore, see TWNIC for further info.

I use AsiaDNS/EuroDNS (affiliate link), but you’ll find other registrars on the TWNIC page.
